Should he be? Probably not.

Will he be? Yes.

Considering that I expect us to address CB, LB, and WR before anything else, I doubt that we would be drafting anyone that would be starting material.

Look for Harts and Wesley to be our starters in 2005, with Pile and a late round pick as backups.

There's a role for Woods on the team, but I have to say that I really like Harts. There are some players that just have a natural talent for making plays, and Harts seems to inordinately cause turnovers. I really want a big-play safety, and Woods just doesn't make big plays.

It depends "which" woods shows up at TC.

As to moving Woods to CB..........drop the hose to that Huka arrowhead........He's too slow this year to play safety, and has been a liability in coverage....you might as well put Beisel at CB.

Actually, I was thinking of Harts at strong safety. I know that is the exact opposite of how it is now but Harts has played very well at strong safety when he's replaced Wesley. Much of the time he has played better than Wesley.

Pile has also played well. I like Pile. He was a free safety in college, I think. I had read in multiple draft reviews that leadership and smarts were his strengths. I'm not sure but I think I had read that he called defensive plays, as well. Anyway, the gist was that he was considered the defensive leader of his team. If that is true, maybe we should try him at free-safety. Wouldn't it be nice if he turned out to be a defensive leader in the mold of Deron Cherry? We need a lot of leaders on defense. We need a lot of guys with smarts and heart.

I think we are ok at safety. IMO, we should acquire a top-notch corner and a third corner. I think we should give Bartee and Battle a shot at safety next year. If they look like crap in pre-season, can em'.

That way, we can go into next year with Woods, Wesley, Harts, Pile, Bartee the "athelete," and Battle the "athelete" competing at safety.

If Bartee and Battle do well enough to stay on the squad, they are probably good enough atheletes to make a difference on special teams, IMO.

IMO, Harts is much better in run support than he is in pass defensing, so I agree with penchief that Harts would probably make a better SS.

I'd like a ball hawk FS who isn't afraid to hit.

Our tandem should be Harts and Wesley unless Woods shows some of the player that he used to be. Pile is a nice back up but I haven't been convinced he's a starter yet.

As a backup...we need a REAL FS, and not Jerome Woods, either...

I think they should try Bartee at Safety in TC, and if it doesn't work out.....cut him. battle needs to have the same offer.

2 new CBs(1 vet, 1 rookie) would suit me just fine.

Actually, I would agree that Harts at FS and Wesley at SS might be better than the other way around.
