Chiefs - 15:1 odds next year?

I was reading the USA Today yesterday (I didn't see a thread on this earlier).

I see that the Chiefs are ranked - I think - 5th regarding odds for winning (or getting into) the Super Bowl next year. [I obviously don't have my act together].

Anyway, the rankings were something like this: 1. New England; 2. Indianapolis; 3. Philly; 4. Pittsburgh; 5 Chiefs.

My question - what do the oddsmakers see (or believe) that I don't know? Our offense - yes good - is getting old - but can still excel. However, the defense? Do they forsee the Chiefs buying a defense this year?

Your thoughts - ________.

By the way, the Chiefs were ranked higher than the San Diego Padres (ha, ha), and way higher than the Brankos, and way, way, way higher than the Faiders.

I think anytime you have a team that has a unit on one side of the ball as good as KC's is, it gets serious consideration.

That sounds logical, and Vegas is always logical when setting favorites.

I think the 15:1 odds were to win the AFC and the 30:1 were to win it all. In any case it's pretty foolish to bet any odds at this point.

They must have heard that we resigned all of our defensive stars from last year.

Well ****, if the Eagles have a better chance than us to win the AFC then I may consider forgetting about the season already.

You absolutely MUST take this bet...

Listen, there are only 32 teams in the NFL, and the Chiefs are probably about "middle of the pack." That means that the oppropriate payout should be about 16:1... If you are getting 16:1 actual odds, but a chance at a 30:1 payout, then you have an expected PROFIT for making this bet in the long run...

Professional gamblers look at these kinds of situations as their bread and butter. If all you did all year was make bets with these odds, say for $100.00 twice a day... That would be an investment of $73,000.00... Now you are going to win one bet out of every sixteen that you place.

Total Bets: 730
Bets expected to win: 45
Total investment into winning bets: $4,500.00
Payout: $135,000.00

Total profit: $62,000.00 (a pretty darn nice wage for the year).

Did anyone notice that Philly was the only NFC team on the list?

It is nice to see these guys give us respect. I do not gamble but this may be a good bet. I have put C.P. down but he just may have been slammed enough that he will do his best to get the job done. If he does his best ... Gun regains his form and D.V. & Al run the O as it can be run ... and our S.T. make a come back ... not beyond the realm of possibility!!!!!
