Rethinking the 2005 draft. Antaj Hawthorne in 6th for Raiders.

Should have taken another Dtackle in the 3 rd round instead of a punter ?

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...PGLRE5S2U1.DTL

Punters from Australia can be found. NY Jets are the example.

Link mentions it. Yes , I know. But to me , it's worth it for a 6th. I wanted the Chiefs to go for it .

Expert on D-tackles said these guys are hard to predict. Maybe we should just have just added numbers for competition.

With all the legal issues so far, I'm kinda glad we didn't pick up a guy that's already got a rap sheet.

Plus, he's a Wisconsin defensive lineman. No thanks.

And yes, defensive tackles are very hard to predict. I remember when we were discussing Robaire Smith...I heard both Gosselin and Clayton say that almost 90% of free agent defensive tackles turn out to be big-time busts, and on top of that, roughly half of high 1st-round DT's flame out as well.

I was kinda surprised that that the KC Felons didn't take Hawthorne. A drug program participant would have fit right in with the felony battery, disorderly conduct, drunken driving, misdemeanor battery, and fifth-degree assault charges pending against your players right now.

The Raiders are a joke. They draft potheads, trade for pothead Moss, and by far have the worst talent in the NFL. Why should the Chiefs have drafted a thug like Hawthorne-he won't even be around by next year.
To say we didn't need a punter is comical also.

I think I'd rather take a 6th round flier on a player who has first day talent like Hawthorne, than a 2nd round flier on a guy who had 2nd day talent like Junior Siavii. No matter what his issues are getting him in the 6th round is a great pick, I can't fault the Raiders for that pick.

As long as he lasted we probably could have picked him instead or Khari Long or Will Svitek, don't quote me on that, I'm not sure of the exact order. Considering what the 6th round is, I consider Hawthorne a great pick there.

By the way the comment "the raiders by far have the worst talent in the NFL" made me laugh thank you for the comedy. I know you hate them, I also do but come on be realistic here. They aren't the Browns or the 49ers.
