Could Pop "Music" be Neutered Any Further?

My God. Every time I look for something new to listen to I'm more dissappointed by the crap I have to wade through to find a decent band. Even artists that have the talent to do actual music are producing this heartless, soul-less drivel that could only appeal to people who's hormones have rendered their sense of hearing useless.

So while I'm looking for something else good I'm going old school-ish. Seether's Disclaimer is pumping right now. I'd forgotten how damn good that album is.

Anybody know any similar bands?

FYI, I've re-discovered the following bands in my collection already:

12 Stones
Finger Eleven
Lostprophets
Smile Empty Soul

I've found these bands who seem to have promise:

Crossfade
Taproot
Default
Shinedown

I'll let you know how the last four turn out.

Bob Dole enjoys the last 4 listed and 3 of the first 4. (Though Default gets a little blah after awhile...)

Try some South FM and Dark New Day while you're exploring. (Bob Dole is still trying to arrive at a decision about Hurt.)

I quite enjoy Lostprohet's first album. "Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja" is a cool song with a better title.

But Taproot is miles away from every other band you mentioned, imo. Coincidentally, I'm wearing my Taproot conert shirt right now. They've been a breath of fresh air amongst their modern hard rock peers ever since thier first album.

I love Shinedown; 45 is a great song, as is the cover of Simple Man. A lot of good music on that album.
