Founder's son says he won't meddle with football decisions

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Clark Hunt says he'll run the Kansas City Chiefs with the same hands-off policy that characterized his father's ownership.

The 41-year-old takes over for Lamar Hunt, who founded the Chiefs as the Dallas Texans in 1960 at the same time he founded the AFL. He died Dec. 14 following a long bout with prostate cancer.

Lamar Hunt had already transferred nearly all ownership of his holdings, including the Chiefs, to his three sons and one daughter. But Clark Hunt appears to be the only one who has shown much interest in the club. He was appointed chairman of the Chiefs in 2005.

Clark Hunt said after Kansas City beat Jacksonville 35-30 Sunday that he will continue to let general manager Carl Peterson run the day-to-day football operations. Hunt plans to immerse himself in planned upgrades to Arrowhead Stadium.
