Neither.
They'll sign someone else before the preseason is done. They know they need a legitimate back to have any chance to defend, and Allen is just a veteran backup for whomever that legitimate back will be. |

He is, Kyle? (a backup)
Where did you read that, I just saw it on the bottomline, they didn't give any details.

I didn't read that anywhere Cody. That's my own prediction. They have no depth whatsoever at running back, and I believe they'll find a way to clear some cap space and trade for someone. I think Ricky Watters is still the best bet, although they'd like to get someone younger. I don't see Denver trading Mike Anderson to them, but anything's possible.

Mike Holmgren announced today that Watters is unavailable. Shanahan is eyeing a Super Bowl run and I doubt he will do anything to help the Ravens.

Denver won't trade Anderson because he's going to be starting for them on opening day. Neither Gary nor Davis will be ready to go, IMO.

Pittsburgh has two solid rb's behind Bettis (Fumatu-alla-whatever and Zeroe..) and Cowher is high on both guys.
Marty has like 12 backs on the roster and wouldn't be surprised to see movement there either. Kijana Carter would be a low risk high yeild type of pick up. Chris warren being a free agent stupifies me. He produced in Seattle, produced when given the chance in Dallas, and produced for the Eagles in the playoffs until they pulled a Greg Hill with him. From what I heard, Carolina was shopping for a trade with Natrone Means before the draft. I've heard rumors of a deal with Green Bay already in the works with Levens... But point is, the Ravens will have to give big to get a little. There is little out there, and the little that is out there is not going to get them the repeat they want. If Grbac had Alex, Morris, and Gonzo in Ravenland he probably could repeat with that defense. But not with the poor wide outs they have now. They are f*****....:D

That's kind of what I meant. No division team would even THINK of tradeing with them, and Cowher loves both his backups...
Is that a hint of sarcasm I detect?....:D

Homegren saying Watters isn't available means that he's available, but it's gonna cost a high pick. That's my opinion, at least, because Seattle is not a contender and when they are one in two or three years, they'll be in the NFC, and Baltimore won't be a worry unless they hit the Superbowl.
Denver on the other hand is a contender now, and isn't likely to trade Anderson to a team they might meet in the playoffs. Pittsburgh is possible, but I don't see Cowher doing any favors for a division rival, especially if it helps their running game or their defense. Other than that, I can't think of a whole lot of teams with enough depth at RB to give one up, although one thought just hit me - maybe Arizona would trade Michael Pittman and his legal troubles, but then they'd have to take their chances with Thomas Jones. |

Sorry Brad, yes, I was being sarcastic. :)
I don't see any real opportunities out there for the Ravens. Pittsburgh won't trade with them. Denver won't trade Anderson. The Patriots have alot of backs, but none of them are good enough for that Pats, why would they be good enough for the Ravens? That leave Watters. And of course Mike Cloud! :D |
