Let's hope greed doesn't ruin the Chiefs and the NFL

...like it has the other leagues. Perception is quickly giving way to clarity about the "haves" and have-nots" in the NFL...which is exactly why owners like
Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder should and stop grandstanding about their big-market big-spending. The league can only hold these kind of owners at bay for so long before the lawyers and the collective agreements finally put the Superbowl hopes of such teams as the Chiefs, Packers, and Jaguars (great fan base but smaller market) out of reach. I think the owners backing out of the latest collective agreement early is promising...but let's hope it's not a smokescreen for one of these idiot owners to screw our fave team down the road with some pathetic backroom deal. Either the NFL stays on a level playing field...or it's all over folks. No way to turn back the clock.

Agreed. The parity in the league is what has brought excitement to the sport. Once the excitement is gone, then it is just the corporate sponsorships and TV deals.

As a fan, that's why I love the NFL. What separates the NFL from other sports besides the contact is that every game matters. In the MLB, people don't even get worked up about a 10 game skid. The Chiefs had one and the world nearly ended (I talked to God a little earlier and he confirmed it). The NBA rarely fields two teams that look to compete outside for an entire game outside of the playoffs. Golf, shit Tiger can take a few months off before anybody even asks.

If you take away the parity, suddenly every game doesn't matter anymore. You go up to Green Bay for a week off because they can't afford the talent, and this sport is ruined. You immediately count out some teams, and it loses its excitement which IMO is key to the continued success of the league.

have you ever put a carton of cottage cheese in the microwave
throw in a box of instant cherry jello in the warm mass
and hit it until the McDonalds manager threw you into the street like Javon Walker

Great post....I still think a team could still compete through good drafting though, but i guess they'd lose the big time players or be forced to trade once they come up for free agency just like the small market teams in MLB.

Carl's been trying to plug up major holes for years to try to get this team over the top.

Yet it still hasn't worked. My hopes is that he's finally changing his ways on letting this team grow from youth and the draft.

Having that said Carl should have left when Marty left. There is no other reason other than money in the Hunt's pocket that is allowing Carl to keep his job.

Making $40-$50M a year off of a $25K investment isn't a bad return on your investment.
