so what's your timeline

for a new vehicle purchase? I hate the 20mpg my 06 Frontier gets, but I'm not ready to make a switch yet. Full-on hybrid production is probably two years off, and even then will be pricey at first, so I'm sayin 4/5 years before I get serious. By that time we should really see some valid offerings. just an estimate tho---thoughts?

Depends on your commute. 4-5 yrs for me would be 125K miles. That would be way too long in my book. I bought a 2 yr old Cavalier that gets 30+ 3 yrs ago and fuel savings just about made the payment for me.

I have a '98 Accord with just over 100k miles. It's in near-perfect condition and I still love the ride. I also love not having a car payment and would like to keep it at least 5-7 more years.

Don't sell an SUV for a fuel efficent car right now... you are going to lose so much in the value of the SUV, that it will take literally years for you to make that up in fuel savings.

FYI... The Chevy Volt will begin production in a little over one year... sticker is 40,000... but the Govt is going to give upwards of 8-10,000 in rebates.

Wow. I had 3 different friend that had CRV's and they were all unhappy with the gas mileage...best they got was 24-25 mpg highway. I'm not saying your lying, Im just saying thats good that your crv does that well.

I pay cash for older vehicles and then run them into the ground. I haven't had a car payment for almost 10 years.

i have a 2000 Accord and pretty much feel the same way. Its got 88,000 on it. Ill probably keep that car damn near forever. No car payment is the best kind of payment there is.

Ive pretty much decided im never buying new again. I always look for solid used cars (Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans) that are 2-3 years old.

Exactly... I'm going to get a Honda Civic probably sometime during the middle of this week.

Can't continue to enjoy the 13.5 mpg I'm, getting out of my Yukon XL Denali.

After years of playing Grand Theft Auto, I've decided to not ever buy a car again, but yet steal one with a VERY HIGH Gas Efficiency. Gotta love not having car payments.

Next year. The kids can no longer fit comfortably into our little Kia (although the gas mileage ain't bad), and it just rolled over 100K. Time for a new, bigger vehicle.
