I think Huard is fed up with Herm and the offensive coaching staff

BigRedChief's reports have never been wrong before, so I agree that maybe Huard did just up and quit this last Sunday and because of that, is truly in Herm's doghouse. Huard's last throw was that interception, which bounced off Devard Darling. Huard looked disgusted after Darling ****ed that play up.

Of course, the situation - third and long - was created because Herm's wonderful offensive coaching staff dialed up a run up the middle on first down and a pussy middle screen call on 2nd and 7.

Throw in the fact that they were sending Hagans in and out of the game - I'm sure Huard was disgusted with that, too - and it's not hard to see why Huard has had enough.

If you remember, last year Huard was pissed off at the offensive coaching staff, too. I believe it's been publicized that he's not a big fan of Dick Curl. He was much more comfortable with Terry Shea.

Basically last year Huard put up with a terrible offensive coaching staff that had no clue, and got beat the hell up all year long, for basically nothing. Now it's happening again, and he isn't about to put his body on the line for another shit team that has no clue what they're doing on offense if he doesn't have to.

And so he ends up in Herm's doghouse. But can you really blame Huard?

That's my theory anyway. We'll see if Huard gives a shit if he gets back onto the field the rest of the season.

EDIT - Oh, and one other thing. Larry Johnson is the other guy who raised a fuss last year. He's already started this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see it escalate. Will he end up in the doghouse?

The ball didn't touch Darling. There was a defender pratically in front of Darling and that's who the ball hit. It was a crappy throw into coverage. Huard said as much after the game.

You wonder how many players' careers were made or destroyed by the sheer luck of where they were drafted. You have to figure that there are some guys who could've been hall of famers, but they ended up playing for Herm Edwards or Rich Kotite or someone, and ended up being labeled as "busts". I have nothing against Marty, but do you see a smallish third-round pick named Joe Montana ever seeing the field if Marty had Steve DeBerg playing ahead of him? Would Herm Edwards have ever started Barry Sanders if Barry gained three yards per carry straight over the center time after time?

Utter horseshit. You can blame Huard for quitting. Huard signed a $2.5 million per year contract while Herm was the head coach.

Does anyone have a clip of the play?
I was fairly positive that it hit Darling's left arm.

Oh and I don't buy for one second that Huard took himself out of that game.
He didn't even know when he had gotten hurt when he was asked in the post-game interview.
If he really and truly had faked the injury he had three quarters to have come up with something.

I think people think it hit Darling because that's what Rich Gannon said at the time. But I don't think any angles showed anything. Here's Huard's quote I was referring to.

Quote:
“I made a bad read and it was a bad throw,” Huard said of the interception. “I threw it probably a little late and the defender made a good play batting it up in the air for the interception.”

I was listening to the radio broadcast. I never heard Gannon's take on the play. I watched the replay and it looked to me like it hit Darling.

I'll defer to Huard himself though. He had a better view of the play than I did.
Though sometimes even players are mistaken about what happened on a given play (ie, Randy Moss).

Okay...

I just watched the play about a half-dozen times and the ball DID NOT hit Darling.
From the NFL.com angle it looks as though it hit the back of an Oakland defender.
He jumped the route and stepped into the passing lane.

The other thing that stood out to me, now having had an opportunity to watch the entire FULL game (I saw the short cut first, with all the non-football stuff cut out), is that Huard on the sideline really didn't do a whole lot. He didn't really look like he cared much about anything but standing around until it was time to go home.

Previously he's been very active on the sidelines, talking with other players and trying to help out. I didn't see that when CBS put the camera on him Sunday. Mostly he looked bored. I don't think I saw him get excited once. I think he's had the life beaten out of him by the occurrences of the past season and a bit. His spirit is broken.
