Jets Coach Eric Mangini said he was confident that Brett Favre, who left Monday night’s game against San Diego in the fourth quarter with a knee injury, would play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
Asked whether his confidence was because of Favre’s toughness (278 straight games) or because he thought the injury was not severe, Mangini said: “I think it’s a little bit of both, which is why I feel comfortable saying it. I think we have a good plan in place whenever somebody is banged up. And if there is any way he can play, he’ll definitely play.”
Mangini said he hoped defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, who left the Jets’ 48-29 loss to the Chargers with a back injury, would not miss any time.
“There were times last night when we thought he could come back in,” Mangini said. “He was close throughout the game but never quite got there. I think with time and treatment, that will move along pretty well.”
