Am I being a prude or have the rules of dating changed DRASTICALLY?
I have a 40 something girlfriend who is still married but has been separated for almost two years. There has been no movement towards an actual divorce. She has moved in with her boyfriend of three months. She has a tweenage daughter.

I am shocked, mortified, and worried beyond belief about her daughter. The woman is an adult and can do what she wants but I worry about the impact on her little girl.

My question is what type of guy does this? And am I being too harsh in my reaction to her decision????

So a piece of paper would make you feel better about the situation? What’s is making you uncomfortable the lack of a divorce or the haphazard move in with the guy that’s going to "touch" her daughter?

I think three months is not enough time to judge a person and certainly not enough time to get that serious about them to the point of living together. I think it sets a bad example for the girl. Her Mom is still married to another man and living with another.

My wife of 10 years moved in 9 days into our relationship (her roommate went CRAZY) so its difficult to judge. However I do agree when you have a child they ALWAYS come first so hopefully the mother knows what she's doing.

I knew my ex-wife 3 months when I proposed... after 6 months we were married. Of course we're divorced now but.....

I do agree that it isn't setting the best example to do what she's doing. Crazy thing is these days people don't even think about that stuff. It's kind of sad.

I would think it was too soon if she were single. Relationships take time to develop. Certainly you and your wife were able to beat some long odds. But I wouldn't care and just think she was being a tad bit on the sleazy side if it were just her.

As it is, I think she's being stupid and foolish since she's done this with a kid. I think most child mental health professionals would agree with me.
