Looking for a home alarm system and video system.
Due to the recent violation at my house by an unnamed CP member a few nights ago.

The house I am moving to, doesnt have an alarm system. I am looking for a self install, very expandable home security system. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts?


I spent 13 years as a Network Engineer before I became a pilot... I have installed many different types of systems, so this wont be a big issue to install.

I have found this video system that looks attractive.

So anyone know any place to purchase the systems or parts for a self install?

If you can find a place to buy one I highly recommend it. IMHO, unless you have a cellular backup you are wasting you time if you actually want to catch someone who breaks in to steal something.

The Destiny interfaces with X10 automation modules, allows microphone connections for remote listening, and also allows you to connect with your phone to listen and talk to someone in your home. It's a very popular model with Turnkey parents.

I have a Linear system that I bought over 10 years ago at Sam's Club and it's still going strong. My system is wireless with door entry and motion detectors. It's really easy on batteries. I finally replaced them after 10 years and they still had about 20% of their capacity left.
