Life No matter how many times a week you call, it won't make money appear in my account

Being in the hospital for almost a month and then having to take the entire month of December off really put a damper on my checking account.

We had to strip our savings to start the Chemo ( I am sure insurance will take its sweet time to reimburse)

Needless to say, my check was pretty short as I ran out of sick days somewhere in the middle of that month. My check was 1,500 short.

I had to skip a payment on a student loan. I have applied to our catestrophic leave pool and should get that back at which time I plan to bring my account current.

Sallie Mae however, feels the need to call at least every other day even tho I have told every one each time they call the same thing over and over and over. I even called them to tell them this WOULD be an issue before it became late. I have never been late before.

I asked them about deferment but I deferred when I got my masters so I am not elgible for that...I said just tack the month on the end...add late fees and what ever, but it won't make a differents THIS WEEK...

Probably 4 or 5, but I'd rather hear the phone ring a few times a day than go through the same song and dance with them on the phone. You could always write them a letter demanding they cease all contact. But then you never know when they'll throw you into collections.

I was always under the impression that if you told them, "Do not contact me at work again." they weren't legally aloud to.

Anybody know for sure?

Yeah, I've done that. You're dealing with a savvy individual. You need to get their fax number and fax them a written statement stating that they are not to contact you, or your husband at your places of employment. Do that right away, and that will stop.

Doing it in writing is much more provable should it need to be discussed in front of a judge. What I mean is, until you put them in a position where there's indisputable proof, they don't really have to do shit.

I guess for Crohn's the Chemo is fairly new and we have to show improvement in order for the insurance to approve it. We paid for the first 3 rounds out of pocket. 6 grand total. We will get it back but probably in their time not mine.

Well, it's bullshit IMO, but bill collectors can only collect on a small percentage of accounts to begin with. If they sniff gold, they're not letting up on any level until it's either paid, or you force them to stop by cease and desist letter, or other avenues.
