Clinton Portis is not the sharpest tool in the shed obviously
Just when some of us were starting to buy into this Clinton Portis low-profile approach, the Washington Redskins running back decides to make a fool of himself on a local radio station. If you've been hiding under a rock since Saturday, perhaps you've missed the NFL's investigation into how female reporter Ines Sainz was treated during a recent New York Jets practice. Players apparently made catcalls toward Sainz and one assistant coach deliberately threw passes to players standing near the reporter during a practice drill.
On Tuesday, the folks at 106.7 The Fan in Washington asked Portis for his thoughts on the story. Here's a portion of Portis' enlightened response: "You put a woman and you give her a choice of 53 athletes, somebody got to be appealing to her," Portis said during the interview. "You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's going to want somebody. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 men's [bodies]. ... I know you're doing a job, but at the same time, the same way I'm going to cut my eye if I see somebody worth talking to, I'm sure they do the same thing." Where do you even start when someone says something that dumb? Even if a player holds that ridiculous belief, it seems as though common sense might prevent him from saying something in public. It's not as if women broke down the locker-room barrier last Friday. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the comments were "clearly inappropriate, offensive, and have no place in the NFL." Should Portis become the first NFL player suspended on the grounds of being completely clueless? I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't have a huge problem with it. I'm sure it took Redskins P.R. chief Tony Wylie about 15 seconds to gather the following statement from Portis: "I was wrong to make the comments I did, and I apologize," Portis said in the statement. "I respect the job that all reporters do. It is a tough job and we all have to work and act in a professional manner. I understand and support the team on these issues." Wylie then condemned Portis' comments on behalf of the team. Never a dull moment in this league. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post...-clueless-team |

(Kim English) Englishscope24 : Dissapointed in Clinton Portis's comments about women reporters in locker rooms. He's not speaking for all male athletes.

The woman is dumber than hell.
These players aren't paid to cure cancer. If women go into a male locker room then expect some groping. |

That chick obviously plays that card. There are threads about her ass and stuff on countless message boards. And lookie now, she is on talk shows and all kinds of shit. It sort of seems like a flat out PR play. I could see her getting picked up into a better job, and more "exposure" over this. I almost doubt that if Rachel Nichols goes in there that this happens, and she looks hot as hell this year IMO.

Yeah, what's so offensive about it? He's saying a woman might be attracted to a few guys in a room full of guys? That's now offensive?
If you said a man or woman at a workplace would probably find one or two coworkers attactive, would that be offensive too? Because from that quote it seems like that's all he's saying. |

Are male reporters in locker rooms after women's tennis matches?
