How fast? Shaun Smith Car spinoff thread
I started a thread like this years ago, but oh well. How fast is the fastest you have gone in a vehicle. I don't care if it's street, strip, or race. I know this is a sensitive subject to some people, and I always drive about 5-7mph over, but I've taken a few rides pretty fast, nothing crazy though.

2008 Charger(non hemi)------115mph---Freeway 2am no traffic
1979 Cutlass 455 big block-----under 80-90 It's my project car and the front end is terrible, I did not want to challenge death.

I have never had a desire to go fast as in high MPH, I like 0-60 fast!!

1985 Daytona Turbo - 150 MPH street That car absolutely killed it. I can't believe how fast it was on the top end.
Have also routinely taken various cars we've owned up over 100 MPH but most govern out around 105-108.

Did Richard Petty Racing Experience a few years ago. However fast we got there... 150 or so.

I had my old Cougar up to 135 on I-55 out in the middle of bumble**** Illinois once. It wasn't topped yet, but I ran out of balls and backed down.

I did have the pleasure of driving once in Montana before they reinstated the speed limit. I was in my Monte Carlo for that one, and it really didn't want to do much over 105. However, legally passing a cop while doing 105 was really cool.

Warmed over '95 Kawasaki ZX-9, actually not sure how fast I've had it going. I found the rev limiter in top gear, just not sure how fast that is. I do know its well past 170 MPH though.
'60 Willy's CJ5 with a warmed over Corvette 327, wrapped the speedometer up to 105 MPH. Had plenty left but I was out of nerve at that point. Found out after putting a radar in my Jeep that my speedometer was reading 15 MPH slow, so that was actually 120 MPH.

140 on a police chase once So. of Louisburg,Ks. I passed another police cruiser @ 120 in the left lane due to myself having a higher top end. But in the end we stopped him by a police roadblock by a P.D. from Drexel, Missouri.

Ya, it wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done. What makes it worse is that I did it on 7 Highway just east of where it splits from 65 near the Lake of the Ozarks. God knows what could have jumped out in front of me.

You must have balls of steel. It takes almost no time to get to 120 on a sportbike, but getting from 120 to 140 seems like an eternity. I can't imagine running wide open long enough to get to 160.
