just cracks me up ... trucks and vans just swarming up and down the streets picking up stuff within minutes of it touching the ground. I thought we were going to have a throw down fight over some 8ft railroad ties from an old flower bed box a few minutes ago.

I remember working at red cross and we had a bunch of blood that was tainted so we put it outside and sure nuff there was a van stealin some bags of blood

It's that time in my neighborhood as well. I threw out an old lawnmower, and a guy picked it up off of my curb in less than two minutes after I put it out there. It was amazing.

it's crazy, sometimes the stuff doesn't even hit the ground you just carry out to the curb and hand it to somebody.

People are like sharks for good curb pickups....you have to start early to get the good stuff like old Sealy mattress's and 12" Huffys.

I was helping a buddy move out of an apartment and he had an entertainment center he didn't want. So, instead of putting it in the truck, we just set it next to the dumpster. We went back up to his second floor apartment to get another load and by the time we got back downstairs the entertainment center was gone.

I once had some dude get a broken treadmill with a fried motor. He somehow got it into the trunk of a little Corolla or something. 75% of it was sticking out. I told him several places told me it would cost more to fix it than to buy a new one but he took it anyway.

Huh, we don't participate in such an event here. We have neighborhood cleanup day where a bunch of garbage trucks park down at the pool and you can take whatever you want to get rid of. There are always a couple scrappers there to snatch up anything metal but other than that everything goes in the trucks.

Heh! We have our big item pickup next month. Other than an old set of tires I don't think anything I've put out has ever actually been picked up by the trash company.

I do get a kick out of the hooptie wagons, too.
