SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 22

The rules:

In Round 1, I'm going to put up three randomly selected scenes from the nomination thread.

You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that.

The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards.

Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it and let me know so I can update it if it moves on.

Nowhere in this whole tourney is a Fight Club moment.

Deep down, come on, you know you want one.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

My votes are below. These are all solid scenes, and there are no losers in this heat.

#1 - Big Lebowski. I feel like I should embrace this movie, but I've never found it that engaging. However, this scene's pretty good.

#2 - Rounders. Nicely done scene. It was enjoyable to watch, even if it was a bit unrealistic.

#3 - Hoosiers. I liked this scene, too. I could easily rate it #2, and #1 is not out of the realm of possibility.

There are two nominated scenes, but I'm surprised there's not more based on how often that movie gets mentioned around here.

You definitely need to watch this if you haven't.

It's hard to explain but it's...it's the natural male instinct you feel vs. the situation that imposes upon you.

It's a must.

The scene with Tyler in the bar with his whole diatribe about the things you own eventually owning you.

The Big Lebowski is just one of the best movies of all time, RM. I figured you'd love it.

The whole movie is just so ****ing brilliant. The best part about it, is that you don't know what's funnier about most of the characters: the fact that they're so hilariously weird, or the fact that there are undoubtedly people out there just like them.

Just an amazing, amazing movie.

It is a movie that improves with multiple viewings. First time through I was pretty "meh".

I loved it the first time I watched it, but your point stands.

Every time I watch it, I love it more and more. I absolutely never get sick of that film.

Voting for Rounders, but as usual, that's far from the best scene.

I can't believe Hackman wasn't nominated for an Oscar. There was some brutal competition with Michael Douglas in Wall Street, Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam, William Hurt in Broadcast News. But I don't even remember Jack Nichleson in Ironweed or Marcello Mastroianni in Dark Eyes.
