*** OFFICIAL 2013-14 Season is over Time to Eat Crow thread***

Now that the big one is over, I know there is some crow to be eaten here. I can't think of anyone that made any postulation at all that doesn't have some crow to eat.

I'll start.
  • Alex Smith. I thought he would blow ass. Bad. Maybe not Cassel bad, but it felt in that same ballpark. He is not Cassel
  • Reid. I didn't want another washed up retread. He was arguably the best choice
  • The team. I thought this was a 6 win team. They made the playoffs. Nom nom nom

Moving away from the Chiefs
  • I'll go ahead and eat some crow on the Super Bowl officials. I thought they would throw all kind of flags against SEA. They called it pretty loose. Did not see that coming at all. And I talked about it quite a little bit. My bad, folks.
  • RG3. I thought this kid would be good. It might be time to throw in the towel if half those rumors are right.
  • Seattle. I didn't think they could score enough to win the Super Bowl. Whether Denver was in it or not. Wilson and the offense looked really good last night.

That's all I can think of at the moment. I know you all have some crow to eat, get in here and chow down.

You're a little premature on the RG3 crow.

I'll eat crow on Alex Smith. His second half of the season surprised me. I'm still not a fan of what we gave up...but I can justify WHY they did it.

On RG3, it looks awful bad right now, and IF those rumors are true, he's damn uncoachable.

I was wrong about Smiths ceiling. It's clearly much higher than I imagined.
I thought for sure this would be the year the Pats fell off the map and the Bengals made a legit SB push.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I think the Chiefs this year were everything that most people, other than committed haters, thought they would be. The same pieces we thought were missing turned out to be weaknesses. We need to replace almost the entire defensive backfield. We need recievers, a tight end, and we need Fischer to turn out to be a good LT. But the Chiefs are who the rational thought they were.

  • I thought the Chiefs would win 5-6 games, and would have been satisfied with that
  • I wrote Poe off the moment I saw his ye-ye ass haircut at the draft
  • I thought we had good CBs
  • I picked Florida to win the SEC East
  • I picked the Nationals to win the NL East

And I'll finish with a moral victory:
  • I thought Iowa would blow Missouri State out

I was excited about Alex Smith. I am glad I don't carry the same anchor of hope some of these bastards carry. I hope the crow is good for you folks... I guess I did pick the chiefs to go 11-5 in the prediction thread. But I enjoyed the season. Except Kendrick Lewis

I'm definitely not a hater. Not a homer, but not a hater. If you would have told me, the Chiefs would go from 2-11 wins, I'd have called your ass crazy.

Reid is what I thought he was. Fine head coach overall, but his game management skills haven't improved since Philly. Still don't think he's going to get this franchise to become a legitimate contender, but they at least should be in the playoffs for a while.

Smith was a bit better than I thought he'd be. Have to give him credit for showing up in a big way at the end, anyway. Again, like Reid, not sure he's the guy that's going to get this team into real contender status, although the Chiefs have far bigger issues than him at the moment.

My "eating crow" list:
  • I saw us as a 7-9 or 8-8 probable with a 9-7 best case: I WAS WRONG
  • I thought Dwayne Bowe was going to have a great year: I WAS WRONG
  • I thought our secondary was good to very good: I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG
  • I didn't think Eric Fisher would suck so bad!: I WAS WRONG
  • My guess was Andy Reid and Bob Sutton couldn't blow a 28 point lead with only 1 1/4 of a game left in the playoff: I WAS SADLY AND HORRIBLY WRONG

My "talking shit" list:
  • I knew Alex Smith was much better than all the haters wanted to believe
  • I felt Geno Smith was not the top notch material at QB for us
  • I always liked the Dontari Poe pick and saw great upside which has come quicker than anyone expected, including myself

I don't believe in eating crow. I have football opinions and love to debate them on this forum and with other football fans. Not all of them are going to be right.

I get a bunch of them right, but I also whiff on several. And that's the case for everybody on this place.

It's yin and yang. Ebb and flow. It balances the universe. It's ubiquitous to everybody. I'm not going to apologize for something like that.
