Family rescued from Minivan driven into the ocean

A pregnant mother drove herself and three of her children into the ocean in Daytona Beach, Florida. Thankfully, rescuers were able to the pull the family out of the vehicle that threatened to pull them all into the deep.

Canadian photographer Simon Besner caught the harrowing incident on video, while rescuers fought with the 2-ton vehicle in the water, pulling 3 children and their mother out of the van.

It’s unknown why the driver would head straight for the ocean. One of the first people to reach the vehicle was Tim Tesseneer, who heard the screams of the children inside. He stated:

“The two in the back seat was crying, with their arms out saying ‘Our mommy’s trying to kill us, please help. The kids are like, ‘No there’s a baby. There’s a baby,’. She (the mother) wouldn’t say a word. She didn’t tell us nothing about a baby.”‘

The three kids, aged 10, 9, and 3, were transported taken to a local hospital as a precaution, though they did not appear to have been physically harmed by the event.

I'm surprised you could even kill yourself that way. Or I guess she proved that you can't.

It seems like you couldn't get out into deep enough water to sink before the engine died and you got pushed back to the beach. But then again I know better than to enter the ocean because I know there are fish out there that will eat you. Maybe she was just trying to get to the fish.
