ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A North St. Louis County club owner says he’s disgusted after what was supposed to be a clothing contest turned into live sex acts in the crowded venue. Last Friday, rapper Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell from the controversial Miami hip-hop group 2 Live Crew was hired by the club Sound Bar, in the 11000 block of W. Florissant, to judge a short shorts contest. Instead, he offered $1,000 to women to perform oral sex on each other. Club manager Robert Hughes tells KMOX News several women rushed forward to compete. He says it took several minutes before a club rep stopped what was happening, but not before some women performed oral sex on each other while others in the crowd used their cell phones to record it. Christ the King United Church of Christ pastor Rev. Traci Blackmon saw the video after someone posted it on her Facebook page. “Have we become such a voyeuristic population that we would take people’s shame and then post it publicly for other people to then talk about how wretched they are?” she asks. Blackmon is concerned that people recorded the acts and that no audience members tried to stop it, and she’s worried for the women who would “degrade themselves.” “You have to be broken in some way to come to that,” she says. Blackmon had questioned how to shut the club down, but says she is pleased Hughes has issued a statement taking ownership. She and Hughes will meet next week to reach out to the women involved. Hughes says he’s disgusted and wants women to know this is not how they should conduct themselves. Sound Bar posted a statement about the incident to their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon: “On Friday, May 23, 2014, entities involved with the SoundBar solicited the services of Luther Campbell. The services involved Mr. Campbell judging a contest involving clothing reminiscent of late 90′s attire. The individual with the best attire was to be awarded a sum of $1,000. This was a promotional event to attract more customers to the venue. It was documented, as well as implied through various channels that this was entirely a promotion involving attire. SFW, as there is no nudity... that can be seen. |
