I have to applaud the Playoff Committee for showing they are taking some lessons from last year. Florida State had no business being #1 overall all year last year when the level of play on the field was evident they weren't.

As an OSU fan, I can say that the team has looked shaky at best and didnt deserve the #1 ranking. Hopefully, that provides them some motivation to continue the play as of late.

With no Barrett this week, it's entirely possible that we could see a loss...in every game this year Barrett has come in to help out Cardale who has really struggled this year.

It'll never be like CBB - cant playoff 64 football teams, but you can do 8.

So what's their excuse for the ranking so far?

TCU also seemingly had a strong beef about its initial ranking. The Horned Frogs are No. 2 in the FPI, No. 5 in the AP poll, No. 6 in strength of record and are riding a 16-game winning streak dating to last year. TCU, which is second nationally behind Baylor in scoring, also boasts the best QB in the country in Trevone Boykin, who has emerged as one of the front-runners for the Heisman.

TCU had to prevail in a pair of shootouts at Texas Tech and Kansas State. But as the Horned Frogs have gotten players back from injuries, they've improved defensively -- most recently holding West Virginia to its lowest yardage total since September 2013.

Still, the committee seemingly punished TCU for having to win close games, even though No. 3 Ohio State and No. 7 Michigan State have done the same against lesser opponents, as well. The Spartans squeaked by Purdue (2-6) and Rutgers (3-5); the Buckeyes, though talented, had trouble against Northern Illinois and Indiana.
