Hypothetical:
We lose the next 3 games against the Chargers, Ravens and Browns. Do we play the starters in Week 17 or sit starters to improve draft positioning? |

I voted rest the starters, although I'd rather play them for a quarter of half. Our second stringers have proven they can play competitively in week 17.

I think you rest guys that aren't healthy, but if healthy, you start your starters until the early 3rd quarter... you play a smart game plan and take guys out if you deem necessary.

I've never been a fan of resting starters entirely, but I'd be in favor of 1) no one who is on the injury list plays no matter how minor the injury and 2) key players don't play in the 4th quarter. Basically, treat it like the 3rd preseason game.

I'd say rest 'em. At the very least, rest the ones with injuries. Week 17 is Chase Daniel time anyway.

I'd bet Andy would rest the starters.
He did in 2013. |

Depends
Do we have a two-game lead or a one-game lead w/tiebreakers to ensure we have the 5th seed locked up? Then maybe. If it's going to matter whether we play the #3 Seed or Indy/Houston? Then hell yes you play everyone.

I really wouldn't want to see guys like Alex Smith, Houston, DJ, Peters, Sean Smith, Berry, Maclin, Kelce, etc. playing in a game that doesn't matter one week prior to our most important game in 20+ years.

Depends on if we have anything to win or not.
If we have nothing to win or lose, use week 17 as a bye week and rest the starters. Get everybody healthy and rested, have the team watch the next weeks opponents game and spend the extra week on preparing for the playoff game. Use it as 2 weeks to prepare for the playoff game and let the backups get the much needed experience. |

Depends on the circumstances but as of now...nah. Let's keep the fire in the belly.
Momentum is everything for this team.

If the outcome, win or lose, does not change our playoff seeding I see no reason for playing the starters past the 1st quarter if at all. Little need in risking an injury for a meaningless game.

If Denver loses three out of their next four (Pittsburgh and Cincy are no locks and they may struggle with Oakland this weekend), the starters will play in Week 17 because the Division title would be on the line.
But if there's not shot at the #3 seed and they're locked into #5, Andy will do what he did at San Diego in 2013 and rest all of his starters. |
