Chiefs Injuries Update
Just saw this and thought I'd toss it on CP for your reading enjoyment. The short version is that everyone who had an injury requiring surgery seems to be doing ok. Anyway, FWIW......
BY TEREZ A. PAYLOR BOCA RATON, FLA. News about Justin Houston’s recent potential season-ending ACL surgery ruled the day, but Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder also gave injury updates on a number of players Tuesday afternoon. Among them: ▪ Running back Jamaal Charles and cornerback Phillip Gaines each underwent ACL surgery early last season. Both are doing “great,” and both are training at the team’s facility and will get some limited work during organized team activities and minicamps in May and June. “We anticipate, with no setbacks, they’ll be fine by the time we’re ready to go in July,” Burkholder said. ▪ Punter Dustin Colquitt had his right knee scoped in January. “He had an old injury there, had some hardware in his knee from a high school injury that he had,” Burkholder said. “He had some of that hardware taken out and had his knee cleaned out, but he’s here every day, and he’s doing great.” ▪ Tight end James O’Shaughnessy had his right foot operated on in November. He should be ready for the start of the offseason workout program in April. ▪ Inside linebacker Justin March had microfracture surgery in his right knee in August. He is expected to be ready for the start of the Chiefs’ offseason program April 18. “He’s doing great,” Burkholder said. ▪ Offensive guard Paul Fanaika had lower back surgery in September. He’s passed his physical and should be ready for the start of the offseason training program. |
