TJ Green: 1st round pick at CORNER?

According to Daniel Jeremiah, from what he's hearing in the scouting community, T.J. Green has a very good chance to be selected in the 1st as a corner. Since he is somebody we've met with, a scheme fit, and fits the Dorsey profile, I thought this was very interesting.

He's 6'2" and ran a 4.34. Former WR.

Another interesting note: The Packers made a similar move last year when they drafted a safety with elite measurables, Damarious Randall, and moved him to corner. He had a pretty good rookie season too.

He has all of the measurables but from what I can find, he sounds like a late 2nd-3rd round pick. Way too raw to consider in the 1st with only 1 season of starts on his belt.

Wow Daniel Jeremiah Mentioned on path to the draft last night That the hype for this kid is very real and one team definitely view this kid as a press corner.

McShay said he's heard that multiple teams in the late first Rd think he's a press corner and can play well from day one. I'm guessing 2 of Carolina, us and Pittsburgh.

Oh, and this...

Matt Miller@nfldraftscout-"If you like Jalen Ramsey, why don't you like TJ Green? Same player." - Southeast area scout to me this morning

I think he just might be a possibility.

This sounds like one of those cases where the talking heads start hearing real scout talk and adjust boards accordingly.

I think the Joey Bosas and Jalen Ramseys of the world are easy enough for the media to spot as top guys. But no one was talking up Carson Wentz as the top QB to open the season. As time goes on, they get enough info to realize "we should move this guy up or we're gonna look like dipshits."

This guy sounds like a Marcus Cooper... that doesn't suck after his first two games.

I'd fire that scout immediately.

Jalen Ramsey is a proven commodity as a free safety and showed just enough juice at CB in 2015 that he is getting some serious consideration there. While I think Ramsey struggled a bit much on the boundary for my personal tastes, and would keep him at FS where he could be All-Pro, that doesn't mean teams agree with me.

TJ Green is a one-year flash-in-the pan that didn't exactly wow at free safety and is seen as more of a height-weight-speed project. The very fact that Green is getting any "consideration" as a first round prospect at CB is alarming to me. It's not that I don't think Green can do it, its more that he's likely going to take a year or two on the bench. I'm not an incredibly huge fan of having to sit 1st round picks unless they are a QB.

Agree here. I don't want a "developmental" player. I want pro ready now who can bloom long term.

As for Ramsey, I don't think he's as great as people make him out to be. He's definitely a top 10 player, but he's not the elite prospect people make him out to be IMO.
I hope SD takes him over Tunsil because Tunsil is the best non-QB prospect in the draft. He makes the 2013 OT's look bad in comparison.

Good cover skills and measurables of elite athleticism.
What I cannot ignore about Green when watching film is his tendency to pile-watch. He does not disengage from blockers well in the run game and overall lacks the physicality you like to see out of the position.

Pass.

Ian Rapaport@RapSheet-Rising prospect: #Clemson S TJ Green. He's worked himself into a possible late 1st pick. Surprisingly, some have him highly rated as a CB.

No doubt in my mind we are one of the teams who feels this way about him. I think they like him, but it depends where he's ranked on the board and who's available.

If Dorsey loves him, that's the kind of guy you trade down a few spots to take IMO. I'd be ok with him at 28 if that isn't possible though. I think Harris and Thomas would turn this guy into a stud.

He's basically a raw version of Vonn Bell with better athleticism/measurables, which could put him higher on the board. I think in the end you've realistically got 5 guys in mind here and it just depends on how the board falls.

Corey Coleman
Vernon Butler
TJ Green
Vonn Bell
Laquan Treadwell-according to reports

Cool.

Just drafted Corey Coleman at #28, and then Green at #59 (press corner intent) in another Chiefs mock.

I doubt Green ends up being regarded as BPA at 28 by Dorsey. Can't say I'd hate it there though.

He's a reach. I'll be pissed off if they take him in the first round.
