Dryer Lint..
Let's talk about lint!!!!

So I bought two of these kits (I needed 20 feet of rods), and wow! I guess not cleaning the dryer duct for 10 years will do that! After I ran the brush through the duct, then I blew it out with the leaf blower. Wow, just WOW!!!

I got the kit and the extensions. Didn't yours come with the shop vac attachment? Or did you get that much lint to come out AFTER you shop vac'd?

and why dryers heating elements would last longer if a regular cleaning such as what is displayed here were done on a regular basis.

It did and I used it, it just didn't work very well evidently. It might have been that there was a leak (ducting had separated in the furnace room and all of this led me to finding it!!), but I'm not sure my "less that kick-ass" Shopvac was going to do the job anyway. I had to use the reducer because my Shopvac's hose wasn't large enough, so there's that too.

So the brush loosened-up everything really well, but the years of lint was still sitting in the duct. After I loosened it using the brush I used the leaf blower to blow it out, ran the brush again, the the blower again. That's what 10 years buys you!!!

Next time I think I'll use a blower of some sort in the adapter instead of a vacuum. I'll just do it before I mow and just pick it up using the mower..

It's clean now, but wow!

In my case it was a job worthy of a "Dirt Jobs" episode!

And well worth the money. What's funny was that buying a "4-piece rod kit" (to go from 12' to 24') was $32, but a 2nd kit (with the same 4 rods) is $27. So I have a lot of extras now!
