Wow major props Crow. This would be a top scenario for me.
I have a bad feeling Mahomes is a top 12 pick ![]() |

It's my thought that a team is going to go up there and snag the only guy that's proven anything on the field in terms of facing pressure and winning big-time football games in Watson, and the rest are going to fall relatively close to where they should. I think the only teams you can go out and say "must have" a QB right now are the New York Jets and the Houston Texans. They have nothing, so they pretty much need to figure out a guy. So, between 6 and 25, there's alot of operating space. Here's kind of some thoughts: Cleveland did land Osweiler, they might give him a year and see what happens. They might not, but they don't appear happy about any of the prospects or they'd be taking one 1st overall. Would they trade up from 12 to get Trubisky? Maybe, but it doesn't seem to be the MO of the current regime. San Francisco has their pile of has-beens, but they might be willing to sort them out. You look at Brian Hoyer, he's been pretty solid the past 2 seasons as a backup. They could ride him to next year if they want to improve the overall quality of the team before settling on a young QB. Chicago went out and signed Glennon, so maybe they give him a shot before going out and getting someone else. Jacksonville will give Bortles a shot under a new regime. I think the Bills are giving Taylor a shot under a new regime. After that little gauntlet, you really just have a "who's willing to go and get one of these guys to learn under an aging vet" before you get to Houston, who needs a guy. I don't think the Chargers are serious in round 1, maybe after that sure. You're picking 7th, you have a bunch of holes, and you have a really good vet, not really any reason to take a QB there. Same can be said for New Orleans at 11, way too many holes to fill. Do you sacrifice filling one of those holes for whenever is "after Brees?" Those two teams, I just can't see it. Now you get to Arizona, I think they were a bit snakebit last year and they are better than that. They are a team that scares me a bit on who they will take. I think they love Watson and are going to make a move for him. If they don't love Watson, then it might just be Mahomes. Gotta be a bit more in the "NFL know" to have a solid grasp on that situation. I think you at least make a move ahead of the Giants and Texans because either would be likely to grab him. The Texans might try to move up as well. It'll be interesting, we just have to see what shakes out. If the Chiefs can't land a trade up to get the kid, I wouldn't cry about it. There's a lot of talent in this draft. I'd be pissed if they 1) didn't try or 2) passed on him. |

After Arizona, Washington would concern me in regards to nabbing a QBOTF.
Move to #15. Will cost a lot. |

Kind of pissed about passing on Kamara. Understand the Harris pick though.

Would be nice, but eh, feels a bit more like what we want, not what will actually happen

I'm not sure he's capable of going backwards and doing good work in coverage, but as a pure pass-rusher, he has tools on par with anyone in the class. You look at Crow's mock and you see Barnett in the top 10 and there's a chance (though not an excellent one), that Harris could be every bit as good a player. Like I said, he'd need to make strides in space, but this is a scheme that's managed to hide Tamba Hali in coverage for years now. If Hali can give you credible skills in that role, Harris could do it as well. He'd simply be too strong a value to pass on there.

Fournette at 4 is a big blunder for the Jags. They're dumb so they'll prolly do it, but I'm not a fan

I think they'll take Adams if he's available.
Fournette would be that first step down Cassel road - where you just keep throwing picks at weapons designed to make a flawed quarterback look better. I mean, I guess you could call that Smith boulevard if you prefer but Cassel seems a more fair comparison. If they take Fournette it will be almost exclusively to prop up a guy they should probably be looking for ways to move on from. It's the sign of a flawed decision-making process and would not bode well for that new front office.

Hey Crow.....if you weren't trading up for Mahomes and had to sit at 27....who would you have taken?

No way Harris makes it to the 2nd.
Kamara there is more realistic. |
