The fastest I ever ran it was 5.0, at the time I weighed 250-260. We ran it on grass, because our coach said "You don't play football on a track." I was always curious to see what I would of done on the all weather track we had at our school. Hootie we are probably similar in generation, and I am surprised you went to a school that now leaves you completely disbelieving that white kids running 4.5's is so uncommon. We went to college combines as a team in high school, and I routinely saw guys breaking 4.5. Now the guys that broke 4.4 in high school that was rare. To this day I remember there was one black kid at the combine that ran a 4.39 his name was Arthur Orange. He was lightning quick. We played him that same year, and that was track speed that transferred to the football field.

Maybe 1 guy in MOST graduating classes in typical high schools (not powerhouses) have true 4.5 speed...but not 200 random assholes on CP who had no athletic careers to speak of outside of a varsity letter or 2

I was by no means a burner, but I ran a 4.52 and played receiver at a small college. |

And once you get to Texas, SEC country, Florida and California, it's not even in question. |

Yeah, without a doubt. There are a ton of guys who run a 4.5 every year in all of the schools around here.

I bet theres 15-20. I think Bubba Starling ran a 4.5 and he looked like JAmaal Charles against the competition.

There is truth though that coaches probably time these fast though. Who knows what the electric times would be. That's the thing though - you can only go by what you were timed at.

Olathe North and South, Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission districts, Gardner, Blue Springs, Lee Summit - not to mention Bishop Miege and of course Rockhurst and you're looking at a pretty high number. The thing to always keep in mind is that weight room strength and straight line speed don't necessarily translate to football skills, so very few guys move on to the next level. Quite honestly, I was always more impressed by the agility or cone drills. When you'd see a big dude that weighs 230, 240 or 250 run the same or better as receivers, d-backs and running backs, you knew you were probably looking at a special player. |

This is what my old coach said when he coached Darren Sproles. He said the way he moved with quickness on the cone drills you could tell he was going to be a great player.
