Let's break down his game as if we have him on tape telling fans, presumably, to "shut the **** up."

We need a legit QB. This much is clear. If he's available when the Chiefs pick in round 1, do you pull the trigger?

No bullshit responses like, "Pioli won't do it."

He traded for Cassel--this move speaks for his level of competency. You're in charge. What do you do?

They put Thigpen 10 yards back where he wouldn't get touched. Cassel isn't worse then Thigpen as Cassel A. Has won more games. B. Was able to come from behind and actually play a good 4th Quarter.

He'll get no less than 5-7 regardless of whether the fans like it, or not. He gets up to .500 and he'll be here for a decade.

Yeah, we do, but we need a lot of things. Honestly I think I'd just as soon have a pass rushing LB first over the NT or the playmaking safety. But there is no "create-a-player" feature, yet.

i'm just discussing the mechanics of it....at some point Pioli will "gain" more credit for dumping Cassel than the criticism he takes for admitting a huge failure...plus, the possibility of getting it right the 2nd time which would be a get out of jail free card

And to be real cynical, if he drafts rookie QB now he's automatically bought himself 3 years....and he can go get a new coach as well, just reset the whole damn thing

Yep. Kenney juxtaposed games with a 20.2 and a 26.8 rating in two games in '88.

So, Cassel is safe...for now. But he has 3 games left, so...
