What I heard was just said maybe 10 minutes ago.

And regarding the bold, I'm assuming because players can't actually sign a contract over the phone.

Eliminates the possibility of early signings.

Yeah, but the league office has to approve all signed contracts, so even if Burress signed one with the Giants, it wouldn't go through until Friday.

It's a confusing mess, but I think it makes the most sense. Unless teams are just throwing crazy money at a free agent, or if they don't have a prior history with coaches on a team, things aren't going to really settle until Friday evening.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, the latest player to agree to terms in Kansas City is S Jon McGraw. The KC Star's Adam Teicher first reported that the Chiefs were working on a deal with him.
