Teams will be under Top 51 rules until the season starts; only top 51 player Cap charges count of the 90 players on roster.

only top 51 count against the cap until the season starts, so there may not be as many players let go tomorrow as previously thought

Because certainly the 52nd player on a roster is pulling down major coin.
Ummm...what?

Tyler Thigpen Contract Details: Three Years, $11 Million

http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2011...-buffalo-bills

Back in March of 2009, the Buffalo Bills signed quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a three-year, $9 million deal to serve as the backup to incumbent starter Trent Edwards.

Flash forward 29 months. Fitzpatrick is the team's starter (and may be in line for a much bigger pay raise with a strong season), and the Bills have inked his backup to a three-year, $11 million deal.

At least, that's the assumption we're making based on this tweet from Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Kelly writes that the Miami Dolphins wanted to bring back Tyler Thigpen, but not for three years and $11 million - which we're guessing Thigpen received from the Bills to back up Fitzpatrick and re-unite with head coach Chan Gailey.

Assuming that the NFL's new Collective Bargaining Agreement gets ratified today - and all indications are that it will, despite it not being a lock - the new league year will begin today, and signed free agents will be allowed to practice with their new teams. That means Bills fans are likely to see Thigpen and his hefty new contract on the field tonight.

Jason Snelling Profile

Atlanta Falcons veteran free agent running back Jason Snelling worked out today for the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

The Chiefs agreed to terms with Pro Bowl fullback Le'Ron McClain to a one-year deal after he tried out for them.

Snelling previously visited the New York Giants, but they re-signed Ahmad Bradshaw.

It's unclear if the Chiefs will want to add Snelling since they have already added McClain to their roster.

Snelling is a versatile all-around back who could provide a boost to a team's running game and passing game with his tackle-breaking ability, blocking skills and added dimension as a receiving threat.

Snelling, 27, played collegiately at the University of Virginia.

Snelling is from Toms River, N.J., so playing for the Giants would represent a homecoming for him if a deal is worked out.

A former seventh-round draft pick, Snelling's career average of 5.3 yards per carry ranks ahead of every Cavalier except for Terry Kirby, Barry Word, John Papit and Nikkie Fisher.

In his first career NFL start, against the Giants on Nov. 22, 2009, Snelling rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.

In a Jan. 3, 2010 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Snelling rushed for a career-high 147 yards.

Last season, he rushed for 324 yards and two touchdowns and caught 44 passes for 303 yards and two scores.

Two seasons ao, the 5-foot-11, 223-pounder rushed for a career-high 613 yards and four touchdowns while catching 30 passes for 259 yards and one score.

In four seasons for the Falcons, Snelling has rushed for 1,042 yards for a 4.1 average per carry and seven touchdowns. He has registered 82 career receptions for 651 yards and four touchdowns.

Snelling would be a fantastic signing, and his visit is more evidence that Pioli thinks TJ is done.
