It's been a while since I've had any gin. This is pretty good.

I've got a half gallon of JW Red that I can hardly stomach straight.
Would a Rob Roy help me get it down? Most def worth a try, I think they're tasty and they sure do change the taste of the Scotch. Bitters help add/change flavor, and go heavy on the sweet vermouth and see how you like it - I just buy Gallo sweet vermouth for these, it's $4 locally so it's a cheap way to try to improve the JWR. I'm with you, don't care much for that particular scotch myself - love their other products. You can also try making a Rusty Nail - buy a little 'airplane' 50ml bottle of Drambuie at the liquor store, pour half of it in a glass, add a shot of JWR and see what you think. I'm fond of these, and use Teacher's to make mine, but use up that JBW first. If you like these, a full bottle of Drambuie will be good for all that JWR and then some, I make mine w/1 part Drambuie, 2 or 3 parts scotch.

One of my granddad's drinking buddies waved the vermouth bottle at his glass of gin and called that a martini.
That's always worth a laugh, I've seen that a time or two myself. I kinda like to doctor up that gin, myself. I actually like dirty martinis - with one drop of worchestershire sauce. Very nice just before dinner.

Hope you like 'em. A lot of the old cocktails were invented during prohibition to 'make less-than-wonderful whiskey fit to drink' so when you've got some whusk you just don't like it's worth experimenting with some of the classics like Old Fashioneds and Sazeracs, Rob Roys and Manhattans.
Another trick you can try...next time you're in a good bar ask the bartender add some peatmonster single malt to a shot of JWR, tell him why, and see what he suggests as a way to 'vat' a better drink. I've done this with bourbon, bet it'll work with Scotch as well.

Today started with a lite but really tasty Bloody Mary. Nice way to start the day. Might have to make another one tomorrow.
I predict Rye Perfect* Manhattan's in my future tonite. *A "Perfect" cocktail is usally made with both dry and sweet vermouth. I just restocked the vermouth section of the bar. Waste not, want not.

While I don't have both the ingredients I need to have one tonight, I have discovered Bacardi Razz and Dr Pepper. Mmmmmm...

1/2 Lime juice, 1/2 raspberry lemonade (12 oz total), 4 lime segments, 4 oz tequila, 1-1/2 pomegranate juice, on the rocks. 2 up to now. The jerky I made was a success.
