Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno

I'm fine with that.


My reasoning for being pro Geno, is that his flaws are absolutely coachable. He flips his hips at times when he needs to keep them down and drive the ball. He relies on his arm too much at times.

I can't knock him for sitting in the pocket too long, because he his pocket awareness, IMO, is as good as any qb I've seen at that level.

I don't see that level of awareness when he has to go through reads. IMHO, Barkley looks much more comfortable in the pocket than Smith does.

Most people here have a lick of sense and are away of that. I don't recall anyone here screaming to draft Chase Daniel or Graham Harrell in the 1st. You have to look at the whole package and Geno has that. I'm still up in there on him or Wilson, but we MUST take a QB with our pick.

I'm curious as to which games you are referring to?


In the Texas game, against steady pressure, he seemed to keep cool in the pocket.

Each QB gets to play about a quarter or less, new WRs, defenses can't blitz, etc. What in the world would make you think the Senior Bowl game is any indication of how a QB will fare in the NFL. The majority of scouts leave by Friday morning.

More of the "experts" will start talking to more teams after the season. They'll reform their opinion based on those discussions and one or more or the QB's will be hot and fly up the board. That's who everyone will want.

My final say will be based on the bowl games, youtube clips, senior bowl practice reports and I guess everyone is swayed to a degree by what the talking heads on tv say. And, lets face it we are all swayed a bit by how previous QB's are doing in the NFL.

If Bradford was lighting it up like Luck, people would be more open to Jones. Sanchez/Leinart affect how we think about Barkley. I can't help but be swayed a bit by mobile QB's with the success of RGIII and Wilson this year, etc.

Right now I'm pretty much up in the air on Bray, Smith, Wilson and Barkley early in the first and someone like Dysert or Glennon later.
