Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

I agree that the primary difference between Luck and Smith is that Luck operates out of a pro-style offense. They are otherwise very similar. Both are extremely strong-armed and accurate pocket passers with excellent mobility. Both are great leaders, film-room junkies and team-first players. Both are capable of reading a defense and moving through progressions. But Luck did play in a pro-style offense that he controlled at the line that also included a rushing attack. Just remember, west virginia doesn't have a rushing attack. They are very comparable players.

Will someone please show me Smith going through a progression? I've yet to see it in a single play and I've watch all the video of Smith I can find.

Then you aren't paying attention. I remember specifically he worked quite a few progressions in the LSU game last year and that's just off the top of my head.

I don't entirely agree with that.

When I talk about "field vision" in earlier posts, I am talking about a guy that is seeing the entire field.

He was making reads.

For instance, that (what was it?) 45 yard TD pass to Stedman Bailey in the Baylor game.

He saw the coverage at the snap and knew that the safeties wouldn't be able to get there to make a play if Bailey beat the corner.

He didn't look in Bailey's direction until he was ready to make that throw.

He read that just after the snap, and came back to it.

That is a great read, and great anticipation.

WV will never fall apart with Smith as their leader. He will just out score any defensive deficiencies which they clearly have.

ok. In earlier games he didn't need to as much. When the first read is NFL open no reason to go through his progressions.
