  • Reached the World Series 4 times since 2004 and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.
  • Made the NLCS 9 times including the last 4 years 2011-2014
  • Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.
  • 65 post season wins since 2004. 22+ wins more than any other team.

I hate losing the team control, but Wacha, Lynn and Martinez are all better bets than him long-term and Garcia's a better pitcher than him when healthy. He's a two-pitch pitcher who relies on fastball command...and has erratic fastball command.

The guy has a .215 BABIP against despite a LD rate that pretty much average - that's impossibly low and not at all sustainable. His strand rate is 12% higher than league average which is also largely a luck metric. His HR/FB rate is about 2/3 of league average as well and virtually anyone will concede that pitchers have essentially zero control over that one as well. In his defense, his groundball rate has increased substantially and that's a very good thing, but that still only takes him from the 4th starter he was for most of his duration in STL to a 3rd starter now in ATL.

There's a reason the guy's FIP stands at 3.55 and xFIP at 4.08. To act like we gave up some organizational darling and surefire future #1 is just ridiculous. Shelby Miller was a fine pitcher and the kind of guy you'd like to have in your organization. He's also the sort of player you trade every single time when you have a pool of starters 8 deep and one legitimate possible corner OF option - Grichuck - who hadn't proven he could hit quality RH pitching and could not possibly have been just handed the starting RF job after we had the worst RF situation in the majors the year before.

This organization knows when to trade prospects. Brett Wallace and Rasmus were well thought of by some in baseball. People thought Craig would turn it around and Kelley was a #3-#4 starter. I'm sure the Braves wanted Martinez over Miller.

After our offensive showing last year, the fan base would have been super pissed if they went into the year with Grichuk as the starter in RF with no challengers.

I'm not on board with Grichuk is a long term solution to CF or Hollidays replacement at the #3 hole in 2017. But, right now it is obvious that he should be getting a full time role in CF and lets see if he seizes the opportunity.

He has no value right now but Mo may need to take the Jay option off the table.
