Inner 3rd and waist high; same as every other pitch that carves him up.

They need to just give him the Jose Bautista treatment - open his stance up and do something to at least give him a fighting chance on that pitch.

You're not going to like what you get if you just throw Grichuk out there every day. You're whistling past the graveyard with him here, IMO.

Grichuk's essentially the exact same hitter he was last year when RH pitching absolutely owned him. He has no feel for the strike zone and I still think his defense is good, but by no means good enough to keep him in the lineup (i.e. Bourjos).

Grichuk's going to be a .725 OPS guy with a .275 OBP if you play him every day. The light's not going to just turn on with the guy. He still has no understanding of the strike zone at all - it's among the worst I've ever seen. A 10-1 strikeout to BB ratio just won't play at this level.

Jay provides OBP and frankly, that's just the kind of offense this team's going to have to play now. Without Holliday and with Heyward not hitting for power and Reynolds having been sapped of his by Mabry, this team isn't going to be a crooked number team. It's going to have to get guys on base, get them over and get them in. Jay can do that better than Grichuk and by a fair amount.

I'm not opposed to Grichuk getting more PT out there, but ultimately you have to go into it with both eyes open - he'll almost certainly fail and when he does, you need to be ready/willing to re-install Jay.

I'd consider using grichuk as a trade piece for an outfieldwr. I don't really see the upside with the guy

I don't think it is, he pitched thru it and they didn't feel it was an issue, but we're also dealing with the cardinals training staff.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was TJ and he has ebolaaids.

I just imagined Scott Rolen taking a full swing with a torn left labrum for some reason...

Carlos Martinez just learned a valuable lesson about walking guys in Coors Field. I don't care if you have to pipe a pitch down the goddamn middle - you DO NOT walk the leadoff man in Coors Field. Ever. You goddamn sure don't do it when it's Daniel Descalso.

Coors isn't to blame here - you know what it is going in. Carlos walking a really bad hitter to lead off the inning is the issue. You won't lose on solo HRs in Coors very often, but it's important to ensure that they stay solo HRs.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

That mother****ing moron of a manager of ours just double-switched Pete Kozma into the game and yanked the only consistent source of offense we've had on the team for 2 weeks in a 1-run game at Coors Field.

Yup - gotta get Peralta out of this one; no chance he could be important soon.

I am just stunned by how bad Mike Matheny is at managing a baseball team.
