2014 NLCS. Three wins from another WS appearance

  • Made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.
  • Only 1 losing season since 2000.
  • Reached the World Series 4 times since 2004 and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.
  • Made the NLCS 9 times including the last 4 years 2011-2014
  • Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.
  • 65 post season wins since 2004. 22+ wins more than any other team.

The team has clearly defined roles.

Mark Ellis is the **** out of there, no more jerking around more talented younger players for Matheny guys, in part due to transactions (minus Kelly, minus Craig), in part due to tragedy removing alternatives.

Reynolds is a legitimate RH bench bat that I've clamored for for years.

The defense is legitimately good, and excellent when Bourjos plays.

Yeah, Heyward is not a leader. Reynolds doesn't have resume to lead this locker room. Has to be someone they lost and not someone that was added.

It can be both. The team can be both good and lucky. They certainly have drawn a favorable schedule, but they've also maximized those abilities. Also, their offense looks better for the most part. Wong's development has helped, as have hot starts from Holliday and Carpenter, who, when stacked on top of each other, create a lot of run-scoring opportunities.

Heyward and Molina are the key.

Djln and I talked about it, and I dunno if he'll ever get it, but if Heyward turns things around and Molina ever gets going, the offense becomes pretty scary.
