Life Quitting Smoking - Page 36

Both the wife and I need to quit, and since we've tried to quit at the same time before, and THAT REALLY SUCKED, I took the plunge first.

Haven't had a cigarette since last night. I've quit several times in the past, sometimes for up to three months - quitting ain't the problem - it's staying quit that kicks my ass.

Any advice on non-smoking methods/products or encouragement would be appreciated.

Been 4 months here! It's been amazing all the money I've saved. Purchased a new laptop with funds that would have went up in smoke

Thanks for bumping. I've been a non-smoker for about six weeks. I used nicorette to help quit and now only chew a few pieces a week.

I never used the nicorette, but I switched to gun to replace the oral fixation. After all this time, I still chew gum almost constantly.

At least my breath stays minty-fresh.

I chewed gum for awhile after I quit. Then I started having jaw problems, Dentist told me to lay off the gum

I've had problems before where my jaw has dislocated itself, not fun. The Dr told me that this constant chewing was making my condition worse. I may have to opt for surgery someday, but until then I watch what I chew.

I still enjoy munching carpet though, that'll never stop

There should be a new product on the market within the next few months that should help you stop smoking. This product is a pill designed to shut down the part of the brain that "gets high" from nicotine. The theory is, if you don't get any "buzz" from smoking, you will break the addiction b/c there is no benefit.

Actually, there are about 3 products in the works that utilize this treatment theory, one of which should be on the market this year (my dad is a doc who told me this info).

I don't know what it's like to go through that, but I really hope you can overcome it. Maybe take a jog or do something to keep your mind off of it.

Dude, start working out. it kicks in endorfens that will make you feel good. don't throw all of that away.

it's gonna be 8 years for me on September 2nd, I don't even think about it anymore.
