I think a lot of people want Dunn because frankly it gets old watching a bunch of singles hitters with no power and seeing a HR record from the 80s that still ****in stands.

I like butler to, but he really has no position...and who wants a DH that clogs the bases and doesn't hit for a ton of power. That said i hope it increases but his power #'s are down.

So let's overpay for a guy and move one of our legitimate 2011 hitters/prospects to make room for him, just to break a stupid HR record?

I'd like to have Dunn over Crawford, I think... just to have that power in the lineup. But Dunn probably shouldn't be roaming around LF at the K too much. Bring back the days of Juan Gone and Stairs in the corner spots.
But I'm just not optimistic any of them will come here unless we overpay on an epic scale. Hopefully I'm wrong. |

As of Aug. 6, 2010, Butler has 10 HR, 54 RBI and 30 2Bs. His SLG % is .455. He's hitting 15 points higher, too. Butler is having a nearly identical season to last year, when his power numbers were just OK until scorching hot August and Septembers.

Why aren't we talking about pitching? Royals are much worse at that than getting hits and scoring. If Brian Bannister is still in the rotation next yr I'm hanging myself

Lee is obvious, but Jeff Francis and Westbrook might be pursuable as well -and in the Royals' price range as well. Def would probably help convince Greinke they care.

fuckin' Aaron Crow better pull his head out of his ass. I don't really understand why people think our pitching prospects are that great. I think we have some guys that will be good relievers but I'm not so sure about the other guys for starting pitches except for Montgomery.

Crow is lagging behind those guys in performance but has the talent and arsenal to jump right back up with Monty if he regains his command.

Many teams have one lefty of the caliber of Duffy and Dwyer. A few have one the quality of lamb and Monty. No one can match the Royals foursome of lefties, though.

For Simmons, it has been a matter of patience as well. The 19-year-old left-hander from Statesboro, Ga., is the youngest pitcher on the staff. He signed with Kansas City last August after he was a 14th-round Draft selection. Because of the late signing, his professional debut didn't come until June in Burlington. He was dubbed the team's starter on opening night. "I feel like I've grown up a lot ever since I signed and got shipped out to Arizona [to Kansas City's offseason headquarters]," Simmons said. Burlington pitching coach Bobby St. Pierre said certain qualities have been evident in Simmons, giving him an ideal demeanor on the mound. "That's the maturity we know he possesses," St. Pierre said. "He knows what he's doing." Simmons' 11-strikeout performance at Bristol on Aug. 2 included fanning the side with nine pitches in the fifth inning. And it came with Kansas City assistant general manager J.J. Picollo looking on during a rare visit to watch the team. Picollo called it one of the most dominant performances he has seen in four years of overseeing the organization's player development. |
