2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Welcome! "Grab a Brew... don't cost nuthin"...[spills beer on feet]

The Tigers traded for cabrera with 2 really really projectable guys who had done nothing in the minors to that point and thus offered a really low risk to them. I wouldn't want to trade any of our big 3 hitters because 2 of them could be starting by the end of next year and you don't trade away a potential Buster Posey for a right fielder. Then all you are left with is pitching prospects which we desperately need. I wouldn't do it if I was DM.
Not all of our pitching prospects are going to pan out, so I would be fine with trading a couple of those pieces. Position players...that's a little tougher. I wouldn't be completely against moving Moosetacos, though. I don't think he projects nearly as well as Hosmer or Myers.

Moose probably profiles the worst of any of the top prospects this team has. His BB/K rate isn't good which isn't a great sign for him going forward.

The problem I guess I have with that is what happens with Greinke. If we don't feel like we can sign him then what do you do? Some of those prospects HAVE to turn out for us to be ok. We can't field a team with Hochaver as our #1 guy. If we had Greinke locked up long term I would be more ok with throwing 2 pitchers their way and gambling on it, but if we can't sign him then we are going to have to pray that all of our hitters turn out great plus Upton hits his full potential so that we can out hit the rest of the division.

For grins:

Moosetacos, Crow, + lower-level prospect in exchange for Upton.

I would have made this deal yesterday.

I like Upton a lot and would love to see that happen.

I'd think strongly about making Butler the centerpiece of that deal. They need help at 1b, and the Royals have a lot of options there.

Would be tough, but I think Upton is the better RH bat long-term and he obviously brings more to the table.

I think that is the theory behind all of this young pitcher stockpiling (ie the DDJ trade). Some of them have to work out they can't all be busts. Either that or you have enough depth to move some young pitching without killing your youth movement.

Upton would be an ideal answer for our huge hole in CF. Dude is a rare talent. Honestly, if Greinke is going to be moved come hell or high water...well...there are worse decisions that could be made than doing it for Upton.

Non-tender candidate Kyle Davies hopes to remain with the Royals, says MLB.com's Dick Kaegel. Davies hasn't heard anything from the team regarding his future.

I'd like to keep Davies, actually. His stuff is legit, and he's the type of player that I think will have 1-2 outstanding years, and then go back to being a serviceable, albeit frustrating, #5 starter.

Not Royals related, but not feeling like starting a new thread.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffs...gorithm=custom

Braves acquire Dan Uggla from Marlins for Infante and Mike Dunn.

Carry on.

I would love for him to have 1-2 outstanding years, but I just don't know if I have the patience to watch him be so inconsistent. I'm afraid he will always be a frustrating #5 starter.

I'd def. kick the tires on Upton...he had a shoulder injury that was bothering him atleast half the year. He was supposed to have a monster year and was shredding in ST till he got hurt

I would hate to give up moose though. I wonder if we couldn't more pitching and Butler.

Of course, the flip side could be trading for Upton without giving up Butler... might be enough to convince Greinke to stay. It certainly would advance the "competitive phase."

I could see something like: Lamb+Duffy+Aviles+Clint Robinson/Ka'ahuie being enough, barely. Two elite pitching prospects, one who is close to big-league ready, and two cheap and controllable, productive position players.

A nucleus of Greinke, Butler and Upton would look pretty good when supported by Moose/Hosmer/Colon/Myers and Montgomery, Dwyer ...

If you're willing to move Butler, I think he and Lamb/DUffy+Aviles/CF prospect are probably enough to get it done. He and Upton are similar hitters, and it gives Arizona a premium pitching prospect and some useful parts in return.
