2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

If y'all turned down Harper and Jordan Zimmerman for him, you'd be nuts.

In fact, given the fact that Harpers signing bonus has already been paid and the Royals will struggle to keep Greinke here anyway, you'd probably be nuts to turn down Harper straight up for him.

I'm not in love with Harper (swing's a bit too long for my tastes), but I don't think you'll get a better offer than that.

Financially speaking, this is a false statement. If he were worth it, we could easily pay him $20MM per. In 2013 our prospects are going to be dirt-cheap. He wants to win, this isnt about money.

Zimmerman and Ross Detwiler are two guys from the Nats I wouldn't mind getting. Harper would be a jizz yourself pickup.

Zack Greinke-S- Royals Dec. 7 - 8:24 pm et

Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports that the Royals feel the Nationals aren't a good match for Zack Greinke.
The team reportedly inquired about the ace right-hander, but were told that they didn't have the pieces to land him. According to Ladson, the Royals are looking for starting pitching and a right-handed-hitting outfielder with power.

It is funny to read the comments from Jay's fans on mlbtraderumors. They seem to think Greinke isn't worth half what they might give for him.

Thats actually very encouraging, we took a look at the Nats and said "forget it, we dont even want to hear it because you are not capable of meeting our demands". If that doesnt show how much we are asking, I dont know what would.

Well, not to be a killjoy, but I don't like the fact that we're being so specific about our expectations: pitcher and OF.

This is a ridiculous approach, IMO. What if we're offered two potential stud middle infielders and a legit C prospect? Is Dayton going to say, "Yeah, I really want that OF?"

I don't to be chasing the ghost of Austin Kearnes here.

I really doubt DM is going that route. I have no doubt he's interested in pitching, but my guess is that the source has read/heard about the Royals looking for a RH power OF and just threw that in.

You ask that because the best 5 tool guys are outfielders. There aren't too many 5 tool Middle infielders.

Could be, Kev.

And I agree with you, Sith. I'm a bit gun shy, however, because of how often this franchise has chased specific positions. Get top talent, period. Worry about everything else later. (And there aren't too many 5-tool players at any position, really.)
