All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

He might be elite in the AL Central, but pitching in the AL East is a whole different world. Again, though, the real question here is whether the Jays intend to even contend over the next two years. Based on everything I've seen over the past few years, I don't think they do.

While small sample sizes are meaningless, I don't recall him pitching one inning against the best offensive team in baseball, the New York Yankees.

He won the AL Central Cy Young a couple of years ago. Not sure who the other winners in the AL were that year.

Of course it's tougher to pitch in the East, but this is true for all pitchers, which makes it especially important to try to get elite arms to contend with the ridiculous lineups.

If Greinke is a 5 WAR pitcher, and you reduce his numbers appropriately for the AL East competition, he doesn't end up looking that much better than a few guys that they already have. And even if he does prove he can pitch like Halladay in the division, what's the point of acquiring another pitcher like that at the expense of Travis Snider when you're not going to contend until 2013 anyway?

There are much better fits for Greinke elsewhere.

I'm not saying anything that most Jays fans don't already believe. Greinke isn't worth mortgaging the future for.

Remember that only last year the Jays had the best pitcher of the last decade (Halladay) and he did nothing for their playoff chances. What exactly is Greinke going to do to change that in the AL East?

I would argue that the homers here are those who think Greinke is worth both Snider and Drabek.

Rogers Communications does, yeah. Winning 80+ games with modest attendance figures and good television numbers keeps them making a profit every year on the team.
