2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Welcome! "Grab a Brew... don't cost nuthin"...[spills beer on feet]

Some sarcasm there. But I hope I'm right too. Wr have heard it all before, something just FEELS right this time. But hey I thought the mavericks were going to be a dynasty in like 94. Hosmer and meyers have me excited and if moose hasn't turned to mousse like that cat up there keeps saying, maybe he can be the basher of the group.

Hosmer's stance reminds me a lot of Damon, and if his power develops, he could be beastly.

But I have the suspicion that Myers is going to end up being the superstar, though Hosmer was my favorite pick of the three at the time of the draft.

Why roll the dice and wait the 3-4 years for those guys to maybe develop. Take the sure thing now, the haul would be more than 2 prospects anyway.

While Greinke still plays for us. 2 things happen next year, he plays well and we win some games and he resigns with us, or he plays well and someone offers us a bigger return than what we might turn down this offseason.

Or has a down year you still don't win and he still won't sign with you or he gets hurt and then you won't even get the two picks. Is that a gamble this organization can take? Ask the Nats how not trading Dunn worked out.

I don't see a sure thing, though, save Greinke himself.

fine. People are going nuts about the price we are asking, but its really not THAT much higher than the picks we'd get anyway. Pay us or dont, we'll have even less incentive to deal next year.

True, it's always a gamble but the return will/should be talent ready to play as opposed to simply 2 picks. The conversation would be different if you had a chance on keeping him here.

Thats part of the reason why the price is high. If you read some of the recent interviews, DM has at least publicly said he thinks we have a fighting chance to re-sign if we do well in 2012. Maybe he doesnt really believe that and hes just saying the right things, but its hard to tell with this kid.

I'm not wrong. If we dont trade him this year, his value obviously declines, probably to the point where the draft picks arent worth much less than what we could get. Throw in the possibility of re-signing, and I dont think there's much of a chance we trade at all if he's a Royal next August.

The only way we lose if we dont trade is if he goes straight into the toilet. We cant just "probably" do better than the 2 draft picks, we have to clearly and decisively win, especially in THIS market.

My friend sent me this today -- It's hysterical.

The Mets signed a impact player today -- YOU! If you click on this link http://mets.mlb-brochure.com/2011/#/login You put in your name and telephone number, and your name will appear at various times in the video. The Mets general manager will actually call your house and welcome you as their “new” signing.

It's a really cool marketing video.

On a more optimistic note, fill in the blank:

Performance 7 seasons after named Baseball America's #1 farm system
1990 - Rangers - 2 division titles
1991 - no organization given #1
1992 - Braves - 6 division titles, 3 pennants, 1 championship
1993 - Blue Jays - 1 division title, pennant, and championship
1994 - Braves - 6 division titles, 3 pennants, 1 championship
1995 - Braves - 7 division titles, 3 pennants, 1 championship
1996 - Dodgers - 1 wild card
1997 - Pirates - finished 2nd once, no postseason, epic fail
1998 - Marlins - 1 wild card, pennant, and championship
1999 - Braves - 7 division titles, 1 pennant
2000 - no idea (anyone know who BA named in 2000?)
2001 - White Sox - 1 division title, pennant, and championship
2002 - Cubs - 3 division titles
2003 - Indians - 1 division title
2004 - Brewers - 1 wild card
2005 so far - Angels - 4 division titles
2006 so far - Diamondbacks - 1 division title
2007 so far - Rays - 2 division titles, 1 pennant
2008 so far - Rays - 2 division titles, 1 pennant
2009 so far - Rangers - 1 division title, 1 pennant
2010 so far - Rays - 1 division title
2011 - (likely) Royals - performance over the next 7 years = _________
