2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Royals sign Luke Hochevar to a one-year deal

Last updated: 01/12/11 at 18:33 PST by Juan Dominguez

The Kansas City Royals have agreed on a one-year deal with pitcher Luke Hochevar, according to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star. With this deal, the Royals will avoid the arbitration process with the right-handed pitcher. Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated adds that Hochevar will receive $1.76 million for 2011.
Hochevar, 27, was 6-6 with a 4.81 ERA in 18 games, 17 starts with the Royals in 2010.

exact same amount as last year, no raise?

Cool, he sure as hell did not earn a raise. Hopefully he pitches so well next year that we are forced to double it.

Does it bother anyone that this season long thread is at post #3525 after over a year and a Chiefs single game thread gets close to if not at that post count within a few hours?

No. This is chiefs planet, and most of the in-season discussion takes place in one of over ~100 baseball gameday threads. (we let a few games go near the end of the season when we're sick of watching the royals lose, and we're too active to do series threads) This board is very active as far as royals discussion goes.

I just dont get why Butler did so much better at home than away, he shouldn't except maybe compared to Minnesota.
Detroit is pretty redonkulous, too.

Yes. A place like Royalsplanet should have more posts about the royals than chiefs, must just be bc they suck.

Weird. I'll chalk it up to sample size.
That is weird. I'll go with sample size as well, I think the home field advantage is baseball is much harder to measure than other sports and you get weird statistically anomalies like this a lot.

On a random and completely unrelated note, if anyone from the Royals is reading this (yeah, right) your blackout policy is F**KINGSTUPID! (all one word, thats how stupid it is, not just stupid, but f**kingstupid)

WHY in THE HELL are you blacking out Iowa? This is solid Cubs and Cardinals territory, none of the cable companies around here really care about the Royals right now. Why are you making it so God Damned hard for me to see your games, I'm even willing to pay extra, just figure out a way that I can get Royals games on MLB.TV or something! (end rant, and yes I've sent a version of this complaint everywhere I know!)

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [January 14 at 8:35am CST]

The Royals have agreed to sign Jeff Francis to a one-year deal, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick (on Twitter). The agreement with the Frontline client is pending a physical.

I like this signing. Not much downside to it, assuming we didn't dump 6 or 7 million on the guy for one year. I think he spent most of last year trying to get back from shoulder surgery in 09. He was pretty good in 07/08 (I may be off a year)

Good signing, and we need some pitching over the next 2 seasons until our young studs are available.

I've always liked Francis. You look at his numbers and go "meh." But I've had him on fantasy teams a couple of years and have watched him pitch, and for whatever reason I just kind of like him.

Nice low risk signing by Moore. Much better than an old pitcher for 3 years.

Would be nice if we had a club option.
