All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Report: Nats release outfielder Elijah Dukes

According to the Nationals' official Twitter feed, the club has released outfielder Elijah Dukes.
No reason was given. Dukes hit a disappointing .250/.337/.393 over 416 at-bats in 2009, but he's just 25 years old and was expected to serve as the Nationals' starting right fielder this season. On top of that, he was only going to require a $444,000 salary in 2010. It's not clear who will start in right field. Mar. 17 - 10:12 am et

We really do. A starting rotation of Grienke, Mesche, Crow, and Tejeda would be solid. Then I'd strongly consider trying Hoch and Banny in the pen since ours is so horrible anyways.

Royals' Anderson hits for cycle

Brian Anderson hit for the cycle in four innings and went 5-for-5 with seven RBI before being lifted from the Royals’ 24-9 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Incredible. Anderson doubled and tripled off Billy Buckner, singled off Chad Qualls and then hit a two-run homer off Clay Zavada, all before the fourth inning was over. He added another single in his fifth at-bat and then was removed for a pinch-runner before he could do any additional damage. The huge game made him 11-for-27 with six extra-base hits this spring. He was turning into the underdog in a battle with Mitch Maier for a bench spot, but he is the better player of the two. Mar. 19 - 7:41 pm et

Which would actually be an upgrade to what we're going to have in RF.

(This statement meant to indicate that DeJesus should be in LF.)

Anybody putting together a Chiefs Planet league this year? We've had the same core group it seems like for the last few years --- tk, Sure-Oz, Hootie....anybody interested?

I watched him take about 5 turns in the cage and he rarely made solid contact.
Lots of lazy fly balls and grounders. Maybe it was just a bad day.

Moustakas on the other hand, usually crushes everything he swings at.

ah..ok...well hes probably a decent 5th starter.

You are not going to find may 5th starters winning more than 8-12 games.

Davies pitched yesterday, and apparently really went after it like his job was on the line. 4 IP, lots of strikeouts, 1 ER, but oddly enough that run was a solo HR by the opposing pitcher.

He may have done enough to be the 5th starter, but he'll want to put up another good performance this spring. Its not a high priority for the Royals anyway, they wont need a 5th starter until the 2nd week of the season. If it really looks bad they can probably get by with 2 spot starts in April, they dont really need a full-time established #5 until the end of April, beginning of May.

This is the same shit Davies has been doing since arriving at KC. Loads of shit, with a strong showing sprinkled in from time to time to tantalize.

Worst thing would be for the team to rush a legit prospect.
