All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Pop-up on the right side near the line, shallow RF. Getz, Butler, and Guillen converge.

Royals fans have been seeing this ball drop, consistently, for the last two seasons. This time, however, Getz takes complete control and makes a somewhat difficult play look easy.

I'd just like to say that from my perspective in the stadium, Guillen didn't converge on that ball. He was so far away from that ball it looked like he jogged in from Nogales.

In something that I find difficult to believe, Guillen is actually slower than last season. He looks like he's pulling a covered wagon behind him. On the positive side it's really easy to believe that he missed another cutoff man on a throw from RF.

There were an inordinate amount of pigeons in the stadium today. Most of them were looking for a statue to rest upon. Several landed on Guillen.

Well, game #2 for me is in the book. I am impressed with Brian Pena. I hope this kid gets a chance to play a lot this year so we can see what he has.

When he missed the cut, I immediately thought of you (cause I can't quit you, dude!).

On the pop-up in question, Fever commented that it looked like Guillen said, "Thanks" to Getz.

And with Pena, we know, right now, that he offers more than Kendall. Why we signed this worthless old **** is perplexing.

I just hope Pena's defense improve's just like his bat but I dont have a problem with kendall

The catcher position is a microcosm of Dayton Moore's dumbass decision-making abilities.

First, we had two of the same guy on the roster: Buck and Olivo. Both were middling, serviceable players with occasional power and all the same shortcomings. Meanwhile, we pass on two elite talents in the draft: Wieters and Posey. Then, we release Olivo and Buck, ostensibly because of cost, only to sign a MORE expensive, yet WORSE option.

Wow.

And for people who hated Buckvo, just wait...

I'm not ready to write off Hosmer and Moustakas yet.

Wilmington is a tough place to hit. Moustakas was a top-20 prospect entering last season according to Baseball America. Give him a year at Double-A, and I think he'll recover some of that stock.

His batting average on balls in play at Wilmington vs. road games was almost .100 points lower, and his actual batting average was .83 points higher as well.

Hosmer's much-maligned vision problems and the broken bone in his right hand make last season a wash.

The other results from the 100 percent Moore-run drafts are pretty hard to argue with. The Royals have spent a ton of first-round money on guys in the 2nd, 3rd and even 4th rounds, and the upper echelon prospects of the farm system speak to that.

The Royals - at long last - are spending money on the farm system, both in the Domestic draft and in international signings. I'm pretty happy with where things are in that regard...

The major league moves have left a lot to be desired, but at least the farm system (which is going to be the most important thing for this franchise moving forward) is moving in the direction it needs to go.
