2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Welcome! "Grab a Brew... don't cost nuthin"...[spills beer on feet]

Seems like hogwash to me. It doesn't take 8 to 10 years to figure out that signing Jason Kendall was stupid.

Dayton has made some dumbass trades, but I really believe in the long term the Royals will be a better team due to our minor league system being much better.

An excellent piece from Rany.

It's definitely the time to really start trusting the process and seeing what the prospects have (Though I'd argue you still want to mix in a few of the RIGHT kind of vets- experienced guys who play the right way and have some history of success).

As Rany points out, the Dayton trade register is not as one-sided as we perceive sometimes.

Nunez for Jacobs is the worst trade he's made.

Cortes for Betancourt was reviled at the time, but it appears the organization's read on Cortes was correct (he had really been cooled upon). Ramirez falls into this category, too (the debate about Crisp/his injury concerns/etc

Nothing really can be said about J.P. Howell. At the point he was swapped for Gathright, Howell was a soft-tossing lefty who had been drilled in the big leagues. He went to Tampa and continued to get drillled as a starter for two more years. As a last resort, Tampa moved him to the pen, and he stuck. It would be a little different if Tampa had instantly moved him to the pen after acquiring him (that would indicate the Rays had seen the potential and made the trade based on that).

On the good side of the ledger are the trades for Callaspo, Bannister and Davies.

Much better outlook, really, than is commonly perceived when talking about Moore's trades.

And correctly so to this day. It's far less about what we gave up then it's about whom we purposely went out to get.

Anyone who seeks out a player like Betancourt goes a long way to screaming, "I'm dumb as ****." All this aside, though, I want to see Maier, Gordon, Pena, and Kila getting ABs.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm no fan of Yuni Betancourt.

Just glad that they were right about what they were giving up. Cortes' stock had fallen dramatically within the Royals organization, and it appears they were right... he's also been arrested twice since the trade.

I would've rather just released the guy or something anyway. Betancourt makes our team worse so im glad they were right but i wish the trade never happend.

I hope we can hurry up and get rid of Guillen and Pods maybe...

I would like to see Gordon in LF soon as well...with Kila up too.

Also, anyone have any clue to wtf Ankiel is on this roster and wtf is his injury and why has he been out so long? What a waste...i was atleast hoping the guy could stay healthy so we could trade him.

As long as Ankiel doesn't play when he returns, I'm cool with it. I suppose he's a better bat off the bench than the Spork.
