New Posters, Lurkers and Noobs...Front and Center.

I'm Iowanian and I'll be your tour guide today Please remain seated at all times while the Tram is moving, and as always, thankyou for visiting Chiefsplanet.....[/nasal crackled speaker recited speach voice]

This issue has been coming up in several recent conversations....that new posters and those who don't post often, don't feel welcome, or comfortable to make comment. The Offseason, when its slow, is as good a time as any, to wade into the pool.

Let me say, that prior to joining the planet(a new start) I was very uncomfortable posting at the star.....because "these internet people seem to know each other". I sort of felt like I was interupting someones conversation at a cafe or something. It took "the mike keck incident" to make me just do the cannonball into the pool. I wasn't comfortable until I had an oportunity for a fresh start, when chiefsplanet came online....and it took awhile after that.

Every poster has a story and a personality. Those who have been here a long time, probably know enough about each other's lives to scare the shit out of all of us....just from accumulation of tidbits through the years.

This is your Oportunity to step forward. Introduce yourself. This is a safe place. Let us get to know you, and if anyone is a prick for no reason on this thread, I'll stick my thumb in their Router.

Enjoy this comlimentary coupon for all newer posters for 1 free oportunity, after reading Iowani-commentary for years-months-weeks to sign the fan book, or tell me I'm an ________________.

Welcome.

Presumably, 3-16 were test accounts. When a username is deleted the join number doesn't go back into the pool - it's gone.

Another possibility is those accounts had special privelages and I removed them at one point because they weren't used and presented a security risk.

the funny thing about chiefsplanet- is that at work everyone thinks i am super internet-saavy, because I can always pull out these crazy links to ebay sales, tazer videos, or really great 'owned' images...
little do they know that the secret to my fountain of knowlege is chiefsplanet

I am n00b so I will try and give you my perception on this. I do not think it will be addressed by the Icons, similar to a question about the unmentionable.
I do not think there is any graduation from the n00b catagory, I think it is an evolution. However, if you have seven thousand posts, you can be called a n00b by someone with more, or has been on the Planet longer. This is just my observation, it may be wrong but I do not think so.

Bah - noob is such a goofy term.

According to the settings I've configured in the board you're no longer a noob if you've achieved one of the following:
1. 30 posts
2. 10 days registered
3. 250 rep points

Once you've achieved any one of these criteria, you're automatically promoted to the "regular" group and given the ability to create threads, manipulate your avatar, and populate a sig.

Yeah, I've called posters with 10,000 posts n00b. It has to do with the level of dumbassery they exhibit.

Holy cow

My number is 516 - that means I joined before Skip. I'm only 25,000 posts behind him. He sure has a lot to say for an old geezer himself.

I'm chiefkdawg, and I started posting in May. I lurked about a month before jumping in. Been a Chiefs fan since around '92 cuz I got sick of watching the Giants suck out loud. Saw a Chiefs game on TV and got hooked.
Anyway, I enjoy checking in now and again to see what kind of crazy sh1t you guys are talking about, and chime in here and there. Thanx for letting me hang around!
