Gifts for Groomsmen

I'm getting married in 3 weeks, but have no idea what I should get for my groomsmen. What is a reasonable amount to spend, and what would be a good idea??

I thought you people gave each other machine guns...

chill out dude, A gift card for a nice dinner or even a plane ticket for a vacation is always appropriate for groomsmen - or a good bottle of vino, scotch, etc.
Key is, if you are doing any of this "traditional" it has to be something really nice, even a pen set, watch...something like that.

What about crossing the Canadian border (2+ hours away) for some Cubans??

Color me ignorant, but I didn't know groomsmen received gifts. I'm a best man and a groomsman in two upcoming weddings, so this is pretty sweet.

Flasks! Get them nice ones. They are a classy, manly gift -- and unless your groomsmen don't drink, they'll get put to good use too.

Absolutely, good cigars always work! I wish the dude I stood for gave me a nice cigar or 5 or 25. I bought my best man a trip to Vegas...like I said, if it's traditional you should buy something very nice, but I guess it, like everything, is a matter of opinion.

I bought my groomsmen custom-made monogrammed beer mugs when I got married. I received a swiss army knife and a Zippo lighter as gifts for a couple weddings I was in. I don't think you need to spend a whole lot on the gifts.

How many dudes, what's your budget, how old are they (average)?

I've received:
cocktail shaker (I use it often)
silver cigar tube: monogrammed (never use)
Silver cufflinks: monogrammed (c'mon!)

I think that's about it.

So, you can either go with something realy special and monogrammed, that they'll have in a box in the back of their sock drawer for a long time (see above), or something they can really use but not necessarily eternal (iTunes gift card?)

Or, maybe a happy medium like a big Maglite (you can even get these monogrammed) or a golf thing. GOlf things are a no-brainer. If you're doing one of those "vacation/weddings" you can get them something that coincides with the destination.
Hawaii? Snorkle set
Mexico? Sunscreen and juaraches.
Miami? Trojan condoms and hangover meds
Canada? Ummmm...Canadians help me out.

Point is, the traditional stuff I've gotten was usually met with a collective "Hmm. Thanks" But the unique stuff: golden.

Whenever I've been a groomsman, I've always preferred to not get an "eternal" gift. Yeah, you may be a pal of mine, but I really don't want a beer stein that's engraved with the names of you and your new wife. I can't throw it away, it's hard to sell, and I'm probably not going to use it, either.

Go with one of the following:

1. Naked pictures of your wife if she's cute (and deep down, you know the answer to that question)

2. Gift certificates to a movie theater, so they can see other nudity.

3. Breadmaker. You can't go wrong with a breadmaker.

4. A remote control blimp with a webcam so they can take aerial photos of their neighborhood. I can't be the only one who wants one of those.

No, no, a $30 steak from a good local butcher.
