Why aren't the Chiefs selling more Season Tickets?
Have they just become to expensive? Reason I am asking is that I received this email from the Chiefs today for season tickets and I thought they had a 20-yr waiting list.

There hasn't been a waiting list for at least three years, being in the marketing business myself I will give them major props though as they've done a helluva job selling the idea that it still exists.

I am curious why the waiting list dryed up. Is Skip right that they are just more expensive now or is it that people like to watch on TV now. |

I would rather spend 40bucks at home with beer and food with my buds then go to the game and spend 300-500 dollars... I miss the crowd, but the prices are outrageous for my pay... |

I spent 1997 -1998 up in the upper deck, in the corner of the end zone about 5 rows from the top. 1999 - 2004 was on the 50 yard line but 3 rows from the top of the stadium in the upper deck. 2005 Now I'm in the lower bowl over by the tunnel one section over not to far from Weirdwolf, FDE etc. 2006 I expect to get the oppertunity to improve again. Why is the demand not the same? Performance - 12 years without a playoff win. Underperforming teams. Price - I pay $2,200 for three tickets. Before you factor in parking, beer and tailgating supplies. As mentioned before with the Sprint layoffs and the economy being down Chief tickets are a non essential purchase to a family. Luckily I'm in a good enough financial position to keep purchasing the tickets. But are there 72,000 more of us next year? Why are there still 79,000 at games? It's a social event in KC. Kudos to the marketing genius of King Carl. Tailgating at arrowhead is a wonderful experience. People still love their Chiefs despite their record in the playoffs. It's KC, What else is there to do thats as much fun? I expect them to sell out again next year but the year after that who knows? Maybe we will see black outs again here in KC during the rebuilding process. ![]()

Here's my take.

Guranteed is always a great word. But shouldn't we be asking if there is/was a waiting list and '06 is the first time in years then how in the hell can they gurantee play-off tickets for '05? Quote:
What we don't see is the fine print, send $200 now to reserve 2 seats and even if the team doesn't make the post-season and you decide not to follow through with '06 seats you do not get a refund. Sorry to sound so negative,it's just my 2 cents.

Face it, the window is closing on King Carl's 5 year super bowl plan. Missouri is the show me state, and it is high time that the Chiefs showed you ticket holders something.

If a waiting list developed, Carl would raise the prices until it vanished. It's his job.

the GM part comes in a distant second... that's why from a fan perspective have a GM/VPres/CEO combination is a bad thing. A major conflict of interest. GM = win games VPres = make money CEO = Bottomline/maintain image/consistency blah, blah, blah

I had a friend who bought some season tickets, and he asked about a parking pass. THey said "There isn't even a waiting list for those." They don't sell em anymore.

Years of no playoffs with high expectations and raising the prices on seats, then toss in all the Sprint layoff's and layoff's in the city in general and bam, no waiting list.
Plus since they do still barely sell out, people can be cheap and stay home and watch it on TV. |
