The Chiefs' Cap Room

I posted this in another thread but it felt so good, I'm going to type it again.

Shields
Wesley
Hall
Green
Hicks
Sims
Knight
Roaf
Holmes

Our FA signings have all been deals, too. The only one for serious scratch was Nap Harris, and he'll be worth every penny rebuilding this defense.

Soon as the cut date arrives, Chiefs are FREAKING ROLLING in cap space in 2007 and 2008.

I figure a good chunk of that will go to LJ, but that opens us up for some monster acquisitions, in both quality and quantity.

Could put us in prime position for a bidding war for Keyshawn Johnson.

I'm pretty sure Holmes and Wesley are still "officially" on the roster, and I wouldn't expect Holmes to get cut......Wesley who knows.

Sure they are, but Wesley won't be here next year, and there's probably a trade pending so we won't have to swallow a penny for him.

Holmes won't survive the cut date.

They won't "cut" Holmes........that's a game of chess, and Wesley your guess is as good as mine same as Green.

OL is a weakness the next couple of years. Signing KJ to a two or three year deal while we shore up our line might not be a bad idea.

He's not a speed guy, so his productivity can still be high.

Either way, though. Fair point.

Key isn't gonna get alot of money and still does the dirty work alot of recievers don't like to do.

Could for the next year. I don't know how much room KC has but if they have a lot they should cut guys with big salaries for production and take all of the hit this year so they aren't on the books next year. That is most likely what they were doing with Hicks and Sims.

Don't forget, KC also got a $8.5 million cap credit from the league this year because of "likely to be earned incentives" (or something) that were charged against our cap a year ago. Probably due to Trent, Roaf, and Priest not playing and not earning their bonus money.
